Is there a need for more Cdn made AR parts?

I understand the problem with barrel making (but damn it would be nice to get 8-15 inch tubes here) I think that most of the DCRA guys would get behind a built here, superior quality lower, as long as the production/price point supports fairly limited production (a few hundred). Given the recent political situation you may want to stamp them "Republic of Alberta" and engrave the maple leaf downside up - call it the Stephane Dion edition :D

Rick, do you think you machine up uppers as well? or is that pushing it. I agree you could fill a nich market, the more I think about the more I would more than likely get one....just because....well you sell them with a parts kit? They always seem to be what hold things up...

Rick, I'd be in for one as well at that price. It is well below the price I'd end up paying to import a Gen 3 POF stripped lower........if that will even be possible in the near future.

BTW have you considered the machined enhanced trigger guard found on the Gen 2 & 3 POFs and the Tactical Innovations T15BDX billet lowers?

Looking forward to hearing more.

The plan is to EXCEED the quality of the mass produced lowers, which is why we chose to use 7075 billet over cheaper forgings that would save a ton of time, the last thing I want is to produce low quality product, that market is already taken.
Larue,Vltor, Sun Devil are all high end kit and costs more than the run of the mill stuff.
I see no reason that Canadain made can not be better made, better engineered, and most importantly AVAILABLE once Obama gets fully into power.

I 100% agree. A Canadian made 7075 Billet receiver is very cool. Most guys seem to be missing the point that it's 7075. 6000 series aluminum is cheaper but it's also about 50% less strong than 7075. I'm very interested to see the finished product and final price. Custom engraving is also a plus.

Cheers for taking on a project like this:cheers:

Another question
What is the concensus on integral trigger guards?
Being a machined rather than cast block, it would not be hard to have it built in rather than a pinned in place bow.

Don't go for an integral trigger guard IMHO. Part of the beauty of an AR is customization. You limit your market if someone absolutely hates the "look" and functionality of your trigger guard.

I ve seen some lowers made by socom supply with custom serial number but they re about 500$ . I think they re making cheaper ones too as well as AR10 lowers .

There are plans for an upper as well, possibly a piston driven upper, but to get the serial numbered parts into production before any legal changes occur is what matters most right now.

This all came about 2 days ago because my son has no AR and I could not lay my hands on 1 quickly enough if the 3 traitors did manage to pull off their coup. It seems we now have until at least Jan 26/09. No I am not paranoid, I just don't trust any government.

Getting in the small parts kits has not been an issue for me, hopefully this will remain the case. Permits are in the works for a LARGE amount of small parts, bolts and barrels, this may take some time as most US suppliers are really low on stock right now.

Rick, with your reputation for quality craftsmanship I would definitely buy an ATRS billet lower. Also, an integral trigger guard is OK with me and I wouldn't mind HK style safe/fire markings. I'm looking forward to pics!

x2 about keeping the design "Mil-spec", any deviation removes options.
Just make sure the magwell fits Magpul PMAG's.

Do you have any Idea what Mil Spec Means ?.It would be a shame if the mag well didn't fit P Mags because then no other AR mags would work
