Issues With BC Chief Firearms Officer

Can a person purchase a restricted while their blanket LTATT is still in the BC CFO queue? This would mean there is both a LTATT and STATT in the queue at the same time. Would this cause problems, or perhaps speed up the overall process?

Good letters, but the CFO never had anything to do with long gun transfers. The demise of th LGR should have had little effect on transfer times.
When I asked, I was told there is a high volume of restricted transfers.

I can't help but feel they are being petty, and vindictive.
We are not customers. We are surfs.

The cfo's also had longgun transfers bumped to them at random from the cfc so they could review them as well before transfer. For me it was a 12 gauge SxS just because and an sks with a 4 digit serial number.

Ahh, yes. Same thing happened with my 4 digit Siamese Enfield.
Had to explain there were less than 10,000 made.
Wasn't getting through though.

The whole thing with the four digit serial number causing concern is nothing but a bureaucratic stall tactic. They say that there aren't 'enough' digits and it gets flagged. So the reasonable person's question then is,'none of these firearms were manufactured in Canada, they were all imported correct?
The answer will obviously be 'yes'.
'Then if they were imported, they would have had to been inspected by Canadian Border Services, serial numbers visually verified, allowed to enter Canada and go to the importer/dealer who would then again visually verify the serial number and the CFC would then receive a Verification record of each and every one and a FRC number would have been assigned correct? Again the answer will be 'yes'
'So if these have already been inspected by CBS and verified and entered into the CFC database, why is there an issue, and why do they require a second verification, is the initial verifier not qualified?'
Usually, in BC anyway, the answer is, 'you're right, but that's the way it is.'
And this is just one reason the CFO's authorities has to be severely re-worked and reduced in their ability to operate 'above the law', none of this 'open to interpretation' b.s.

I have good news! (glass half full) I just called the BC CFOffice today and FINALLY got the gent that works there! Everytime I call I seem to always get the woman which whom rubs me the wrong way and seems to never answer my questions HOWEVER, I digress,

So I spoke with the very informative rep at the center and asked the following (paraphrasing);

Status of application?
-Cannot confirm, looks like 4-5 business days maybe less, maybe more
Why the wait?
-We're working on applications from May 25, short staffed, and swamped with applications etc since the LGR fall
Please email me everything once done
-Absolutely no problem

I was pleased. Finally a good interaction with the CFOffice so there you go guys!

im gonna try and call tomorrow to get a short term ATT to bring my gun home from the post office...

:bsFlag:

Wish me luck!!!
If you don't live to far away (it appears you don't) avoid the phone queue and drive over there. Counter service is much, much faster. Then go across the road to the brew pub and have a beer.

We are going to find out, because I am in my fourth week of waiting for my LTATT, and I just bought a restricted on Saturday, and the STATT is also in the queue...

Edit: Sorry had to change my post so I wouldn't piss the masses off. got my transfer approved & ATT in 2 days mailed,
Don't understand why your CFO is playing hardball. There is no need for this unless they are antigun.

On every occasion I've dealt with the BC CFO employees I've found then to be very willing to help, and fairly efficient (with the disclaimer that it is still a government office!). If they say they're swamped and understaffed at the moment, they might be swamped and understaffed at the moment and not on some sort of vendetta out to screw over all the British Columbians who play by the rules. I understand the frustration, and also find the wait times to be unacceptable, however jumping to conclusions about the reason things are taking so long might not be the best way to resolve the situation. Just a thought, anyway. Hope everything works out for you guys/girls that are waiting!

This is why we need ATTs integrated into RPALs...

Would solve a bunch of problems. How do we go about doing this? We keep talking about it, I would like it to happen, I don't know how else to instigate change other than writing my MP. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. To the other people posting in this forum and having problems with the CFO, perhaps including this idea into any letter to your MP might help?

Perhaps discuss integration of ATT with CFOs to determine what they think the obstacles are and what would help. In BC are for it and may find that can get further with them as allies than prima facie treating them as foes.

Dealt with the BC CFO lots of times there is 1 or 2 people there that don't like me and know my pal, name and transfer number off by heart. Is it done yet? No ok click. 10 mins later is it done yet? No. Ok thanks bye. 10 mins is it done yet? No stop calling. I will when I can pick up my new toy :p
