Kel Tec SU16F review

So I took er to the range and ran 2 brand new LAR15 mags, one PMAG, and 2 Chinese M4 20/5 mags, performed flawlessly!!!!! Not one hickup!! I didn't even bother with the factory mags, they are safely tucked in the stock. I fired 60 or so rounds, tue only issue I was having was with my safety glasses fogging up like crazy, I'm very impressed with the accuracy. Once sighted in at 50 yards it shot a tad high on the 100, groups stayed very tight, didn't retrieve targets to measure them as I ran out of time and had to rush home..........very very very happy with my purchase!!!

Also tried mine out today at the range, used 2 lar-15, 2 factory mags and 2 5/30 mags and all good, the groups at 50 meters where about 1.5 inch but don't have pics as i had to leave range after shooting the bloody cables on 2 sep lanes, cost me $85 in fines for shooting 2 cables using iron sights (not factory but troy sights which as you have guessed are way to high)

Must say its very accurate to shoot 2 cables that are a 3-4mm thick at 50 meters.
Tomorrow out door range at 100 and 200 meters (no cables to shoot) will take pics.

I was using cheapooo remington white box 55gr'rs $7/box of 20 (last years prices) and I found the groups tightened up at 100m, does that make sense? it was shooting great at 50 but at 100 it almost shot better..... I also had 20 rounds of unknown hunting ammo that was given to me, I better do some reloading of my own tonight.... any recipies?

does the su 16 have a bolt release? i thought i heard somewere that it has a automatic release when a fresh mag it put it, is that tru?
No it does not. Although it does have a bolt open leaver. Meaning after the last round is fired the bolt stay's open.

I took my SU-16 back to the range today to sight in the OEM irons and TRS-25. I put another 160 rounds through it for a total of 300 rounds.

I had two failures to feed from the same brand new LAR-15 mag. It looked like the magazine wasn't seating properly and the feed lips were flared out. A tap on the bottom of the mag cause the bolt to come forward and feed into the chamber. Both Kel Tec mags ran without a hitch.

I've been getting a consitent 2-3 MOA from the cheap MFS FMJ stuff.

This rifle is a lot of fun and is one of my favorites.

Good stuff! And thanks for the info on the TRS-25. Based on your results/suggestion, I am going that route as well.

I noticed that you edited out the part that this was becoming one of your favourite rifles and have yours up on the EE already. Any reason - just curious as a bunch of us are on the waiting list for one.....

yes and it shot 300 rounds and increased in value a hundred bucks from the orignal 799

I put it in the EE because I'm selling it. I listed it for 900 because it cost me $960 to the door without the 10rnd mag and it'll cost me about $25 bucks to ship. The cost, for me in total with shipping to a new buyer will be about a $1000 bucks. I listed it for $900 and left myself some room for negotiation. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I buy and sell many guns on a regular basis as you can see by my trader rating. I decided Cz still holds the title of favorite gun after I cleaned them last night and edited out of my post. Unfortunately there is no conspiracy. (I even put it back in) :)

Edit: I re-listed with SU-16 to include the TRS-25 and I have changed the price. Again there is no conspiracy.

hey guys, new su-16 owner here as well, I did the ar stock conversion, and took it out and put 100 rounds through it today, however Ive noticed one problem, the trigger seems to get stuck once a while after firing, its easy enough to pop forward, but quite the pain to do, is there anything i can do to smooth it out so it stops this?

Good enough deal for me, I was going to buy a TRS-25 anyway and I'm keeping my VZ58 too ;)

Blah, I got 10rds left of hornady .223, rifle still needs to be sighted, so If I do really well, I might be able to get one 100yd* 3shot group.
Finding hornady ammo around here isn't easy.

I also notice some of the spent casings have the case mouth crushed in on one side. Not all of them though.

I get same thing with my cases, 120 rounds fired (winchester ammo)

I am finding it damn hard to find a front sight AR tool in Montreal.

The design of this rifle causes this to happen because the spent casing hit's off the charging handel

Hence why they came up with this add on part.
