Kel Tec sub 2000

There doesn't seem to be much interest or posts, good or bad. Just bought one last week, 9mm, shot a box full and look forward to a couple of mods.

I'm a big fan of mine.

The problem with the Sub 2000 is that you have two types of owners:

1) Guys that appreciate them for what they are; simple, reliable, non restricted rifles, that take the same ammo and mags as your favorite 9mm.

2) Guys who think they are going the save the world with their Sub 2000 and accessorize it with all manner of useless cheap ****. Things like NC Star Optics, UTG lasers, Grip Pods, door hinges, etc...

Unfortunately the 2nd user seems to outweigh the 1st user, not just on CGN, but most other boards as well. Actually, this phenomena isn't exclusive to the Sub 2000, it happens with all platforms. However, the entry point of the Sub 2000 tends to be much lower than other black rifles and that seems to reduce the quality of conversation somewhat.

YMMV.

I like mine. It is a 9mm Glock mag model. Ran a case of MFS 115 gr through it without skipping a beat. Did get very dirty tho. So far I have not added any accessories, but if I could get a Red Lion fore-end and front sight I would add those.

The worst thing about Sub 2000's is that they are impossible to find for sale!!!! That says something....I missed one a CGN last night by 4 minutes, 4 minutes!!!!

I hit it 30 seconds after the posting. This will be my third one. Always had a blast shooting them without issue. Kept selling them off to fund other buys like my xcr and RFB. Everytime I sold one I missed it, this one I'm keeping

I just got on the waiting list for a glock mag model at Wanstall's. 3-4 weeks they said.

It looks fun for plinking and 9mm isn't too expensive. Watched a ton of youtube videos on it and a lot of guys like Hicock and nutnfancy seemed to love it.

That's just so wrong.....I WAS the SECOND guy....I'm still waiting to get my first one, and this is your third, - I'll go cry now. Good buy, mumble, grumble....

I love mine (9mm GLOCK magazines) :yingyang: , it's stock and still great for the purposes (50 yards, factory sights) :) , I wish I had bought one of the "zombie ones" just to have had the the Quad-Rail.....

I bought mine a while back and have over 1000 rounds through it with no problems other than a couple stovepipes early on.
For mods i bought a rubber tube for the stock tube (tacticool products) so it's a little more comfy on the cheek and i drilled the bottom of the forend and installed a rail to put an AFG on it. I really like it this way and am done modding it and am just going to shoot it from now on. Accuracy is more than acceptable and it feeds from all my mags (more than 10) including the KCI ones and the 30 rounders.

I wouldn't pay more than $600 though. These douchers on the EE asking more than retail piss me off so i say let them sit on them till they lower their price.
I paid $600 with tax from P&D brand new.
Worth every penny for a non restricted rifle that you can fold up and put into a backpack and haul around anywhere.

If I need info pertaining to my sub2K , I check the Kel Tek sub2k forum . That may be one of the reason that the OP isn't seeing a great deal of discussion about the sub2k here..

Guilty as charged on #2 I plan on a red dot without the door hinge and prob a laser for ease of target aquisition. Shooting in the winter will be inside but in the spring I'll take it out for some gopher shooting. Love the fact it's NR, and holds 10 rounds. Functionality is the reason for my purchase, impulse helped.

I do fab work at home. Check out my gangster in the rimfire section. A mount for a pic rail flush with the top of fore arm, hope repeatability is good on the integral red dot mount. Maybe not a great optic from Sun Optics but I've never shot with one. The laser should fit inside the front of the fore arm with custom mount.

I'm #1.5 lol, I did the door hinge thing and put a Vortex Strikefire on it, not for everyone but I like it. I got the KCI 31 round mag for it too cause I think it looks cool. The gun is what it is though. Its no AR but its fun, uses cheap ammo, is non-restricted, and (within reason) can be used for hunting. Whats not to like :) They are a little pricy for what they are though but thats the price to play in Canada I guess. You wont save the world or take a moose with it, but you will have alot of fun
