Nice group. Are you getting set-up for the big game season with that rifle? I'll be using my Kipplauf this year.

Not the entire season, but we are looking in going for caribou in August! As for moose and bison I would like to use my cz550 9.3x62.
 
Figured I’d revive my favourite topic and looking forward to seeing other nice break action rifles. Seeing as kipplauf is a“break barrel” rifle, here’s my kipplaufs;

Still drooling over the doubles, but how does the old Model 11 stack up next to the Merkel? I have handled the odd Model 11 and always thought them nice feeling but not really in the same league as a Merkel, Blaser, Krieghoff, etc.?

Oh yea, that Chapuis X4 is very lovely, chambered in a most classic cartridge. I did own a Luxus Model 11 chambered in the 7mm-08. I never fired one shot, traded it for something else.

It’s different. I prefer the Merkel having the more Germanic appearance. It’s also much smaller than the model 11, not that the model 11 is huge, the K5 is just more of a minimalist approach. That said, if another model 11 came up for sale with the same quality of wood, it would be hard not to pull the trigger.
*Pun intended

I personally prefer the Merkel k5 over the Blaser k95 but Ive yet to handle or find for sale a Krieghoff Hubertus.

Well my bad… I should have known that, I might have known that and forgot… oh well I will not forget again 😂! Now I will go out and pull my k5 out of the safe to play with😁

Thanks for your take on the Model 11. Based your description (and my limited experience handling them), I guess they are more analogous to a well appointed and better looking TC Encore opposed to a traditional Kipplauf. I suspect no one would feel too bad having either though.

I had no idea! Always assumed it referred to any lightweight single shot hunting rifle.

Dang...learn something new every day...getting pretty sick and tired of it...:)

I’d like to offer my way into the above. Google has spotty info so here I am. Haven’t handled it in years, but recently put her to my shoulder and she just clicked -less is more achievement unlocked. Currently lives in a very good friend’s late father’s collection, which I’ve bought from before- mostly Steyr. She’s in good condition, but definitely hunted and with no embellishments or high grade stock. Maybe a hunter model? What would you guys start an offer at? I’m at $3K or am I way off?
