They may not be a million dollar show room finish, but I tell you this, that is one durable, long lasting, tough as nails armour jacket lol
Stripping them down to bare steel was knuckle breaking work, all the sanding, degreasing, heating, degreasing again and then the proper application of the spray can method and then oven curing etc A lot of work but I am amazed at the toughness of the finish and to be honest I think they look great!

Both guns have been out to the range extensively and the finish is still 100% rock solid even after exposure to solvents, oils etc during cleaning.

Spray paint is utterly useless. You may as well wrap it in coloured craft paper. It's going to chip instantly, flake off, rub off and then it just looks like a technicolour abortion. Especially once the gun heats up. None of that stuff is rated to withstand any kind of heat whatsoever.
One drop of solvent/oil and it's melted right off too turning your rifle into a sticky, cruddy s**t show.

The caliper paint (VHT brand heat cured) is much tougher than the block paint and way easier to use. It has a much higher initial tack when you start your primary coats. Doesn't look as nice as the Engine Block but it is much tougher. I cannot scrape it off even with a utility knife.

Those both look fantastic! What's up with the No5's wood though?

Her grandfather was a Sioux Indian. He hand painted the stock and painted his name on the magazine. I told the wife I could make the stock essentially look brand new but the paint would be gone. She wanted it left as is. So the stock and magazine have the original finish along with his art.
He is long passed away so it's a sentimental thing. I had to refinish it or it would have rotted out. It had the rust bad in many spots.

If the hand painted lines fades off over the years I will strip the stock too completely and refinish the wood as well.
Damn thing still shoots! Took a heavy bore cleaning and a nervous first trigger pull but there is still strong and near shiny bore in there and it can print a dinner plate at 100m

Most recent pic, waiting on an arisaka inline mount for the scout and i "probably" will have a perfect rifle.

This is the tp9 in question, it wears a 551 not the exps3. Still not shure if i will keep it,it runs flawlessly and accurate enough. If i decide to keep i will do a multicam black inspired paint job on it.

Figured I'd bump the thread with my latest. Had a few hours here and there in between baby watch.
As per my usual, no plan & no f*cks given, the key to a great ghetto paint job.

First layer of green. Used aervoe light green, woodland green, and some other I can't recall

Second layer. Shot some earth brown, foliage green(which is actually more of a grey), and some field drab.

And the final.

Just have to throw the Surefire back on, and wait patiently for my NX8 to arrive in country and she'll be ready for this years abuse.

This is the only painted rifle I've got right now, krylon'd the receiver and barrel, model paint on the bipod.

I've been bouncing the ball about painting my carbine...

Nice job!
Why cover the barrel instead of the muzzle only?

Im lazy, it would've been more effort to try taping off the warcomp. Instead I just rolled up a sheet of printer paper and shoved it over the barrel and under the handgaurd to keep it in place. It only went as far as the gas block.

Thought I would just throw up a pic for people to gawk at, gun #### is half the reason I use this site!
Enjoy!
