LEGAL 10 round SKS with detachable mag...accomplished!..

I wanna bounce some ideas of like minded people.

With that being said, is there anything you guys would like to see on the 2.0 versions? Try and incorporate stripper clip use, they will be anodized, most likely black. Streamlined and i can hopefully shed some more weight. If i can have it made out of reinforce plastic for a cheaper price ala the VZ58 would everyone like it better?

I'm thinking of moving the mag catch to the back of the adapter instead of the front, more inline with the AR15. I'm a lefty so my ergonomics are diff...With it being in the front, currently you just have to slide your palm back, press on the release and grab the mag. Righties slide they hand back, grip the mag and press the release with their fingers...hmm the front positions might be better...

Definitely.. We can set something up for after the holidays. Straight shot up or down 50.. If you're ever in the 427/QEW area, here would work too :) Do you ride a 99 Firestorm or do I have you pegged for someone else?
 
LOL, yea i still have the VTR....although i ride a KTM 640 Supermoto now....GTAMotorcycle? TRATSERIF = Firestart... yea i remember you mentioning something about the SKS + XCR on GTAM...

Yea i work by Vaughan Mills, somewhere along 50 sounds good.
 
Correct.. Sold the bike early this season, no replacement yet. I'll let you know when I pick up a new set of wheels, hopefully before I head off to my brother in law's wedding overseas (end of January). We can even do a test-fit of your adapter on Claire. She's at the point where a mag will go in and it will cycle if held in position by hand. The trigger group was modified and so was the bolt as per md's instructions. I was gonna figure out a proper way to keep the mag in there, even got an AR mag catch for that purpose. The stock hasn't been touched but it will be.

There are three things I would like to see. Firstly, I believe the ability to readily use stripper clips is very important. Secondly, being a man fond of Iron and Timber, a blued steel option (at extra expense etc.etc.) would certainly turn my crank. Somehow aluminum on an all steel gun seems out of place. Finally, better blending into the stock line. It may or may not be possible, but keeping the entire unit flush with the stock, save a mag release at the rear, would be awesome. However, making the thing black may help massively, the machined aluminum finish sticks out like a sore thumb.

Making out of plastic will not be cheaper, unless you plan on selling ten of thousands of these things. Molds are incredibly expensive, and take a great deal of time to make. Plus, putting plastic on a gun forged of Iron and Timber is even further out of place. For some reason I do not think trimming the part for weight savings is a huge issue here (I could be wrong), the part is already made from aluminum, and I doubt any amount removed would justify the minimal weight savings.

I think an anodized aluminum adaptor would be fine. Streamlined a little bit like you said.
Sold in a kit with comprehensive instructions and disclaimer. Mag release kit could be added.
That's what I would go for.

I will drive my SKS to tottenham and drive back and pick it up if I can be one of the 5. I JUST bought a brand new Chinese SKS with the plan of just keeping it as a safe queen. But if I could get something like this... id shoot it every day.

Do you have any idea what the cost would be for the different packages offered. This is a MASSIVE step forward for the SKS. This and the "alleged" archangel stock would make for an awesome black rifle beater.
 
Yes and no. It's the same ar15 based mag shape. The follower is slightly different and the shape of the bottom section is different to accommodate a higher taper of 7.62x39 ammo

Xcr mags can hold 223 but it's not optimal and last two rounds just want to jump out.

It seems that there are about 10 people who want to be one of the first 5 lol. I'll up the batch to a dozen or so depending on how much 6061 I have on hand. Mag release springs source may become an issue.

To answer some questions. I cannot make them more flush with the stock. The magazine adapter needs a certain depth to hold the mag securely. Any shorter and the mag will dance too much. I do plan to make them more pleasing to look at. In the end a gray mag hanging off the bottom will be the "ugliest" thing about this mod.

Steel is out of the question. It mangles bits and it's a pita to work with. Once the adapter is black will it matter what it's made of?

Please PM me if you are interested in the first batch. Preference will go to people local to me. By that I mean south Ontario. I would like to mount them on rifles locally so we can figure out any snags without shipment issues. Last thing I want is to ship them across country and then have issues.

Also PM if you would be interested in a Russian plain Jane sks package. By that I mean 1 Sks from lebarons, the machining involved, one adapter and one mag. Price would be in the 500 range.
 
What do you need the extra 5 rounds for? After 5 shots most of us are ready for a juice break. Your going to get a callous on your finger pulling more than 5 times. There you see there are many drawbacks to a big mag.
 
i believe it is the same gentlemen Marcus that has made the g7ar but not out for sale yet and yes there is modification to the mag wasn't sure how that would work here thanks for the info about the mag mod. im sure l could do the fitting to the SKS myself all i need is the adapter was even thinking of making one by hand (drill and file) as i don't have access to machine shop cause i been wanting one for awhile
 
Offering an SKS package would be cool. Maybe you should look into buying them in bulk with this kind of interest, lol.

An SKS Doctor? Might as well cut and crown for shorties, throw in a trigger job, accurizing package, cut off all the junk. Sparta stock?
A lot of guys spend a good chunk of change on norcs, M1A , wait long turnarounds and there still lined up

I am just curious about your comment in the second video about not wanting to go 10 "because we all know why." If you didn't modify the mag, then you are perfectly legal. What is the issue?

After 10 rounds of centerfire without a pause after five rounds, every Fudd within a 2km radius will be dialing 911 and hiding in their basements until they're given the okay to come out.

Such a hassle for the police to have to calm them all down.
