Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

To keep the thread going, here are a couple of pics of a gun I recently picked up from a forum member. It's a JC Higgins model 100 made by AYA in 1954. Not a high end gun by any means. Stories from back then say that Sears contracted with AYA to make a gun to compete with the Winchester model 21 but at a lower price. Don't know if that is the reason it was built or not but it is very well built for the price point back then with several features. Apparently the AYA 100 was only made in 1954 and 1955 and retailed for around $150.00 compared to $350.00 for the base Winchester model 21. It would be nice if it had a splinter forearm but such is life! This particular gun is in very nice original condition with super tight action, mirror bores and barrels that ring like a church bell.

Here is a recent acquisition. Its a 12g Sabatti Saba. The gun was manufactured and imported by Italian Firearms Group in 1997. The gun weighs 6.7lbs and has 28" barrels with factory IC/IM chokes. The receiver has an attractive full coverage rose and scroll engraving. A nice upland gun.

AyA XXV looks 1 year old, not 45

Down-scaled plans for building my hunt camp so felt it was only reasonable to scratch an itch I have always had for an straight-stocked 12ga sidelock:

Gonna run 20" picatinny rail with heat shield, tac light and not sure - holosight, or red dot?

Will see how I shoot with it if weather turns more favorable this weekend.

Nice shotgun Brian, Looks like the Matador but with out the select trigger. John

From past articles I've read, supposedly there are a lot of differences between the Matador and the 100 with the build quality being a fair bit higher on the 100. I don't know what all the Matadors had, but the 100 has a horn grip cap, single non selective trigger, ejectors, chopper lump barrels and assisted opening.

Thanks for the info Brian, It's good to know. The receiver sure look the same???

The Matador feels like a clunk in my hands. It was built for the N. American market, I think, with beavertail forend, ventilated rib and heavy. A sound enough gun, I suppose, just not to my taste at all. The Matador and Yeoman were much less attractive guns.
I have a model 106 AyA in 16 gauge, a nicely proportioned but modest hunter's gun, double trigger, extractor, Euro stock with cheekpiece. I like its slender European style much better.

I have a 16 gauge AYA that sounds pretty much like what you have only mine is a Habicht, I think made for the German market. If I remember correctly it is from 1966. It is indeed proportioned very well. My son in law used it this fall for his first year of upland hunting and he had "satisfactory" results! Prying out of his hands was the hard part.

This is some of my AYA's. The first one, not sure with model it is, will appreciate to find out. the second is a model 12 DS for the euro market, the third is a model Sauer aya, Fourth is a matador III in 20 gauge, really nice gun to shoot

Nice group of AYA's. Your top gun looks very much like mine that has Habicht stamped on one barrel. At first I was told that Habicht was a German retailer. However, I believe that information was false as I can find no record of a German retailer with the name Habicht. I have since been informed that Habicht is the German word for "hawk" and that likely this is the model. Your gun is very similar.

Thanks Brian, About the Sauer AYA, I think they used the name SAUER as a marketing tool, the gun is basically a Matador. John

You are correct, the word Habicht is German for hawk. Its simply a model. I came across a nice 16g Habicht that was made by Laurona. Seems like the Spanish gunmakers made these models for the German market in the same manner they made "el faisan" branded guns for the Spanish market. They are typically guns made to be at lower price points and can vary in quality depending on who manufactured it

You guys all suck...... here I was happy hearing out getting grouse with my Yildiz over under and I have to endure this?.......

I see bad (meh, good), things happening with parts of this year's annual bonus...... and a few guns going on the EE to boot.....

Please keep them coming...... and victoryxc and beretta1963..... if you guys have a particular gun you are proud of, I would love it if you brought them down to show and tell......
