As mentioned in an earlier post, will not be able to confirm till next year. Personally, I would lean towards April but that is family and snow dependant.
If it was mid to late April, how many are interested? Will be on a Saturday for sure.
My idea would be to meet up and leave Summerland by 8:30 so that we can be at the site by 9am. Set up and start making noise by 10am. That will give us most of the day to shoot. Longest daylight hours then too. Odds are by 3 or 4pm, we will be done or at least, out of ammo. Clean up, head back to Summerland.
The road is is quite rough so trucks are best. Forget about motor homes or cars unless only planning a one way trip. I am sure we can load up the available vehicles. Site is wide open so bring food/water, sun screen and shovel. If anyone has those pop up awning, that would be a big bonus.
We can set up several benches (more better!!!), pair up and shoot as much as you want in say 15 mins time slots (or whatever). Switch shooters, and make more noise. That way we can all have a lot of trigger time. Bring lots of ammo and toys as 15 mins is alot of time for just one rifle.
All shooters would need a spotter for safety and helping with adjusting for conditions. Wind can get pretty nasty. Range ettiquette and safety would be observed. Some will have muzzle brakes and big wonderful cannons so bring hearing and eye protection.
We will need binos or spotting scopes on tripods for each bench. More better. Chairs too (bring your own and one extra). We will also need to have people at two locations on walkie talkies to control the access rd. We just switch that every hour or so. Everyone takes a turn. I think the FRS stuff works on common channels so bring what you have and we should be able to make them 'talk' to each other.
For targets, we can use gongs, clay pigeons and boulders. Some have offered their swinging targets which will be fun. These will be set up at various distances as the terrain allows. You will need rangefinders. A vehicle or quad would be used to go reset targets/change locations as necessary.
The ground is grassy with the occasional cactus. Should still be pretty low so belly shooters bring something to lie on.
We can set up some fun shoots for bragging rights or a few bucks. Just let me know how 'serious' you guys want to get. Post your ideas of a shooting event.
Dinner, drinks and BS'ing back in Summerland in the evening.
That's the plan anyways...
