If it's just a stamped receiver, why hasn't a small shop started making these things?

The way I understand it is they would need to be manufactured by Valmet and that's not going to happen. I believe Valmet was sold some time ago but the details escape me. Then there's the fact that you'd need M78 parts kits to build them.

That makes sense.
Couldn't we use the same design as the VZ58 and manufacture it to be able to shoot .308 or even 30-06?
Yeah you would have to design a new rifle but it being a VZ58 but just scaled up wouldn't there be no hassle of it getting non restricted. Kodiak defense made the WR762 why cant they make something similar that shoots .308?
I would love a commie style gun that fits a true DMR profile, and I'm sure a lot of you guys would want the same.

We've seen them rewrite law to suit a politician's ambitions. And make up new, arbitrary law to effect a solution without first sourcing a problem.

Here's an oddball - the Sako 92s, it's a variant of the Valmet, produced by Sako after they bought Valmet, and it isn't a listed variant of the AK.
