Too early to tell for the Tuknelli, time will tell. Personally i only fired 75 rounds thru mine. It was flawless for those, plan to put another 100 + through it next week.

the sulun tac 12 is the turknelli. turknelli isn't a brand its a nickname s&j gave to the turkish m4 clones. the komando p4, canuck operator, and sulun tac 12 are all the exact same gun made in the exact same factory with a different brand slapped on them for different importers/dealers

S&J claimed the Tac12 was more refined then the others. Is it any better? Time will tell, will be interesting to see if anymore bolt heads self destruct.

refined as in their finish yes. and S&J threw in some extras like the enlarged safety, mag tube spring, follower, charging handle, barrel clamp, ect, but the guns are all from the same factory, so in terms of quality they are all the same unless one dealer can confirm they requested special materials or work to be done to their model. so any issues that affect one brand could potentially affect them all. that guy with the cracked bolt is of concern, his wasn't from s&j but again since they are all made in the same factory that could potentially happen to the s&j guns. im hoping his was just a lemon though

ive asked Simon to inquire about the bolt material, if its cast, mim, or forged, he said hed look into it but who knows when he will get a reply

all the other issues have been fairly minor, the o rings you had, the handguard retaining plate swinging out on the other fellas, canted sights on some of them. but a cracked bolt is a lot more serious

I was tempted by SFRC's sale, 18% off, which means about 650 for the labelled "Canuck Operator".

I've searched this forum and the other one over at Gun Owners of Canada.

Very limited commentary.

It's not the cost, but I really do not want to buy a lemon if instead I could, patiently, save for the real thing.

Let me put it this way.... Have you ever heard of a genuine Benelli Bolt breaking off like that Turknelli owner's did? Even during USMC Destructive Testing?? I didn't think so...


This barely used Benelli "Entry Model" cost me $1700 on the EE (before optics, laser and forend):

M4 clones don't exist in my life and never will, instead of spending close to 1000$ on garbage, grab a used M4 off EE, they come up from time to time for about 1700 - 2000$

When you think of what goes into making these clones, getting the sights brazed on straight and checking them before the leave the factory is child's play.

The fact that they can't be bothered to check quality at the canted sight level is a problem in that it suggests there may be other areas where quality is not controlled at all or if controlled somewhat it's not in a consistent fashion.

Marlin pumped out lot's of canted sights and I'm sure it's happened to most manufacturers at some point.... the difference is some manufacturers cull the crap and some don't.

Well the good news for the Benelli owners is that so far I'd say the used market prices at around the 1500-1700 mark for nice guns are stable given the quality control on the first wave of clones.

Maybe the vast majority of the turkish clones will be fine in the long, I guess time will tell. So far it's a bit of a rough launch.

its probably the cost for some guys. its all well and good to lecture a grown man about the virtues of saving money but at the end of the day some guys just cant justify dropping that kind of money on a gun when, in some cases, it may cost more than the rest of their collection combined.

for me its not the cost, its more of a test drive. could i have bought a real benelli, tried it, and if i didnt like it sell it for what i had into it? absolutely, but these made me curious. if my turknelli doesn't work out guess what? it still served its purpose to me, a test drive of the m4 design(before someone REEEEEEEEs i said design, not quality) and i found i love the benelli m4 design, so i will most likely be buying a lightly used benelli on the ee some day. right now? no, because i am still curious how these will work out, im interested in seeing how much they can take. sure there have been a few issues so far, but time will tell how the guns overall hold up

but thats just my story. other guys maybe just cant justify the cost, cant afford it, maybe the idea of a shotgun that costs the better part of 2 grand doesn't interest them, ect.

I own both, just received my Turknelli, and its an OK gun, not even close to my real M4 and many strange changes made by the turks for no real reason from the original M4..........you get what you pay for, my Turknelli has straight sights and is a decent copy, worth $699 but no more, the real M4 is a work of art

I've actually been wondering about a Fedarm FX4, if anyone has any experience with those. They're very cheap (Canada ammo has'em just under $300) and I see them as a good way to try out both semi auto and pistol grip stocked shotguns at the same time without wasting a lot of money.

One thing i noticed that owners should check. Work the action by hand and as you east the bolt into battery, watch and see if the bolt head makes contact with the barrel extention. Looks like they grinded that area on my old one to accommodate the bolt head.

Does anyone know if aftermarket Benelli M4 parts will also work on these shotguns?
More specifically the B&T quad rail and the Mesa tactical shell carrier
