Yuppers,,, 20 shots of glory yesterday,,, and more to follow in the days ahead...
I drove the back roads to the range yesterday,,, so relaxing in the Sloooooow lane of life,,, time to scout out the hunting grounds and take in the day of unknowns...
Of course I knew that I'd make it to the shooting range at some point in the day,,, Ha...
I rolled past the range gates at 11 am,,, reloading kit and components to top off the hunting ammo to keep me in the hunt...
My 200 meter Zero was spot on,,, good thing for that since it allowed me to chat with 3 other shooters that were also dialing in... They had some pretty nice irons as well...
Tactical 308's,,, 6.5's,,, and a few heavy hitters... I guess I would of been in the middle of the pack with these folks since my tech rifles were at home on this outing... 1 gun at a time when the hunting season is a go...
The on-road duffle bag of re-loading caught a few of the fellows off guard,,, they thought that this was the neet'est set-up they've ever seen,,, ammo prep and reloading at the shooting range... LOL...
Year 6 for me doing this,,, that way I can change things up on the spot at my choosing...
Lifes just that simple when we choose to run tactical in the field,,, of course some of the brass prep takes place at home,,, but the majority of the re-loading takes place at the range or in the wilds...
Old School hand press allows for this...
Any-who,,, I jumped onto the gongs at 300 on out to 600 to make sure that my home made ballistics chart was spot on,,, a few shots hot,,, and a few cold,,, the medium contour mid weight barrel is deffinatly working as it holds zero on all the intended targets...
Deffinatly a plus for this fake M-40 hunting rifle,,, yesterday's shoot give me some ideas on the next custom build for my tactical 308 Remington...
I'll deffinatly use the Wildcat Composites stock since I have one on hand,,, wide flat base fore-end as well as the custom drop down pistol grip,,, I sure don't miss the old school stocks that I use to run,,, hard to believe that those straight hand grip stocks worked back in the day... Ha
Ain't no way that I'd ever own another one of them again...
So I rapped up my day with limited shots and 50+ extra rounds incase the hunting grounds get Intresting,,, a few extra pipe cleaning shots for the just incase...
Good times fore sure as the cold weather starts to roll in along the Eastern Slopes of Alberta...
Cheers from the North
