M40 Family - Who owns one?

Looks great, did you get out to shoot it yet?
Mine will be a ''Look alike'' not a repro nor a clone
Got the right stock and a good barrell Barrel (not be the Milspec one (Bartlein M24 contour 1-12 but in 5R)).
Still looking for an action
It will whear a Leupold Mk4 4-14x50 Not the overpriced unobtanium MST-100 (OR Unertl)...
This will be my son's first rifle I intend to teach him to shoot with when H'ell be older (He juste turned 5)
It will look nice beside my PGW Coyote and Remington M24

My god that's a beautiful rifle you have there.
Can you use different height Redfield rings on that base, I think I used Leupold 30mm medium height STD rings on my not exactly lugged base, and a Mk4 scope with a 42mm objective cleared the barrel. This was before the repro Unertl mount and MST combo.
Edit just re read your post, so the Redfield works but not the Leupold? Maybe just swap in the next highest set of Leupold rings?
I did like the Mk4, it was an old school fixed 10x with .25 MOA adjustments but it worked well. Then the OCD bug kicked in and I had to track down the repro base and scope. Now after selling I’m working on #2.
The Redfield looks good and obviously tracks well on yours so stay the course I think, unless you want something more versatile. To be honest, as l noted before even the MST is a very single use scope that doesn’t cross over as well to target or field precision work on really small targets, but looks at home on the rifle. It showed some shortcomings in the single precision match I fired it in prior to selling it. But I did like it for what it was if that makes any sense.
What chamber did you opt for in your rifle? Maybe time to try some 77 grain or 80 grain loads in the future?

Great looking rifle and looks like a great price! If I had the money I'd have picked it up in an instant.
Well it happened. My girlfriend has fallen for my M40A1 and wants one of her own. So if any of you fellows know where one is hiding or wants to get rid of one please let me know.
You were thinking about selling yours to do something different. Just give her yours and build your new rifle. Not like you can't still use it if you feel the need, plus the benefits of sharing your baby......
