Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

Haha WTF? What happens is you deal with it and try harder not not be a hamfist.

Bolts are usually sized for the application 4mm says low torque to me. if you can't deal with the fact that a bolt requires 5nm and you've just ####ed it up by tightening it repeatedly to 10nm then the problem lies with you, not the design. Military arms are designed to be used by troops with an IQ of less than 90 (yeah I know they don't specifically test for IQ), this is not a firearm being entered in a military trial. It is designed for civilian usage.

My point was that most people are too stupid to use tools, and your eloquent response reinforces my opinion all that much more.

Thank you.

I just want to clean my rifle why do I need to be preoccupied with threads stripping and how much torque I apply?

That is the general gun owner, they should design firearms for general gun owners

Without any consideration to convenience of application, threading an aluminum block and using mismatched metal as the bolt is just a headache in the making. The gift that will just keep on giving sort of speak. Drilling out is in your future.

I was gonna sell my SR15 because I don't use it. Wonder if I can put everything from it on these upper/lowers minus the barrel and have a sweet NR 5.56 gun with all KAC parts, except the barrel?

I’m a J-man heavy duty mechanic and I still don’t like the 4mm heap cap screw takedown bolt. It didn’t deter me from pre-ordering, but I don’t like it. Not because I can’t use tools, or don’t know about torque specs, but because it’s not necessary. I have had a lot of experience with 4mm Allen heads, stripping out, breaking off, mainly on valve coils and the like. Probably my least favorite size of hardware lol! That being said I’m willing to live with it so I can build me a rifle or 2. .

That's the whole idea of this. And if you really want to keep everything to all KAC parts, SJ Hardware has a pre-order going for 18.6" KAC barrels.

It's not stopping me from preordering either, but I agree, from my experience it's the wrong fastener for the job. If there must be one , it should not be a 4mm hex head cap screw.

CSC has stated numerous times that they're in the prototyping stage, so hopefully some of the more relevant feedback in this thread will make it back to them and a few tweaks can be made.

that is my hope as well, it’s not too late for minor changes.

Separating the upper and lower receiver isn't some rare thing that you could get away with using a bolt.

Exactly how often do you pop open your AR's? Mine don't get opened up that often, except for an occasional cleaning. I agree it certainly isn't the best answer, but it isn't the end of the world, either. To me,anyway.

So you get 470mm measured through the bore from muzzle to the bolt face? I can't tell much from the picture, there is too much fisheye.

Where's the bolt face end up?

That is the $64,000 question, isn't it?

Ooohhh tna is offering 11% off if you buy a receiver from them! I wonder if CSC will counter this offer, lol and it’s a 1$ cheaper! A Whole dollar!

Just checked, it's only 11% off if you buy the remaining parts to complete a rifle from them. Not much use to those who are going to cannibalize their ARs to build.
