Marihuana at Hunting Camp.

I own the camp...... I don’t designate myself as “camp boss”...... people just see it that way because I am the owner.... I give them a key to the camp, which has running water, generator power, an outhouse and 400 acres of hunting land, all for $300 each a year.... enough to pay the taxes on the place.... sometimes not enough as that also covers food for ten guys for 7 days during deer season.... and we eat well..... bacon and eggs for breakfast each morning and hearty supper each night......

And yeah, I have a handful of rules...... I would struggle to count them on one hand...

Playing devils advocate here, I think many of the posters rules and your rules can be quite varied, I don't think that people are quite getting that the rules are simply equal job sharing and having respect for each other , not a dictatorship mindset that has you sitting in a hand crafted willow chair in front of a stone fireplace barking orders to someone in the camp kitchen to ensure that your latte has the correct amount of swirls in the whipped cream with 17 chocolate sprinkles in it.

^^^ none of those classify as a traditional eastern hunt camp.....

Ever run dogs or do deer drives?.... pretty hard to do with 3 guys.....

after having hunting most of my live on driven there will be a few people that i will go today ... nothing to do with alocohol or drugs but more for my own safety ...

Eastern Canadian hunting camps have been telling the rest of the country what to do since 1867.....(hornets nest poking gif here)

Yup, much different than most BC hunting set ups. No set rules to count even on one finger.

Like I said, it's an East/West thing.

I was blown up in Afghanistan and at the peak of the medical systems "treatment" for me I was on 26 pills per day. I'm on 6 pills a day now with a license to use both CBD and THC.

So I guess to some of you I qualify as a "stoner" or "blazer" or whatever assh*le adjective you make up in your mind to describe a guy like me who uses those things daily....but it beats what the massive doses of chemicals were doing to my kidneys, liver and heart.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::bangHead::jerkit:

Thank you for your service!

I still don't know why some think pharmaceuticals are 'okay' but a plant is the devil's weed.

To hell with that, thanks for your service, and do what you gotta do.

Thank god you found something that actually helps. Too many people think Big pharma is the only safe option, when often nothing could be further from the truth. They don’t make money curing people. Wolves running the hen house. As far as I’m concerned people will judged for their actions, not appearances, perceptions, stereotypes, or through my own ignorance. Live and let live.

VIC.... I dont care what you guys do...... I have been fortunate enough to hunt all over this country and have (admittedly), only scratched the surface of what Canada has to offer.....

The little bit of hunting I did when I was stationed in bc taught me a lot..... the fact is, not every tactic will work for every terrain...... or every species for that matter..... and not every “hunt camp” setup will work for every group......

As much as you feel “Easterners” are telling you how to hunt, take a look at this thread....lots of westerners telling us we are out to lunch in regards to rules etc...... we all hunt different terrain that requires different tactics......

I have no heirs of “supremacy” here..... I bought my camp to make sure I could always hunt... and hunt the way I like to hunt here.....

Inevitably , putting ten guys in one place causes potential for conflict....... he can some very simple rules.....

I also have a tract of land here that I hunt solo......

.............:agree:.............. and thank you Sir.

To honour this somewhat derailed thread, last night I decided to take a good ole rip and then sit down and ponder the many things that have been brought up here over the last couple of days and just life in general. That maybe lasted about 30 seconds and then I decided that I just had to watch a movie with James Mason in it. I thought I only had one James Mason film (North by Northwest which I've seen about a dozen times) in my collection and then it hit me like a lightning bolt: Bigger than Life! I've like owned that movie for maybe 2 or 3 years and never watched it! So I watched it with my wife and it was pretty good. Here's a weird connection: it's about a school teacher (James Mason) with a disease that will eventually kill him. He ends up being prescribed a relatively new drug (cortisone), gets hooked on it, goes mad and almost seriously hurts his family. I'm not knocking prescription drugs or trying to send a message here - that's just a straight up short synopsis of the film. Then we watched Stage Coach and then Zoolander. Then I went to bed and was up at the crack of dawn and ready to rock! Later in the day I purchased a vintage Marlin 1893 and now I'm thinking the weekend just can't get any better.

SB - you are way off! I have not problem with your rules and would abide by them as well. What you say is sensible, just stirring the pot. Now where is that hornets nest gif....?

It’s no different than the many “overreactions” in this thread in regards to “rules”.......

Oh it's totally different, most people on this thread in favour of it say the same thing with regards to hunt camp rules. Make any rules you want but they are glad they don't deal with that situation, and fair enough if you own the land and camp make any rule you like. It's no different than any other rule you have to follow when using anyone personal property. Their place and rules, don't like it well you don't have to be there.

But the attitude some of the anti weed posting have is so antiquated it's laughable, comparing casual weed use to being a junkie is delusional. It's ridiculous in this day and age to think like that, come into the modern age. Comparing weed to hardcore drugs like heroin or meth or crack just shows how out of touch someone really is. I hope dimeN is just trolling for a reaction cause if he actually believes that nonsense it's hilarious.

Do you own any hunting land yourself?:.... or do you just like to throw out opinions?.....

Again, no issues with weed when it isn’t mixed with gun handling....

And no mention of the good ole` Coca-Cola in the many years gone by.
Rumor has it, well coke was part of the recipe in it for mawdizzawnawl purrpussess.

And casual drinkers should be considered drunk alcoholics. Equal treatment seems fair

Ok..... let me break the crayons out for you guys..... this thread is about recreational pot use in hunt camps and how different hunting groups plan to handle it now that it is legalized....

I have always allowed it at my camp outside and as long as firearms are put away....

Geeze.... I thought you smokers were supposed to be mellow.....

I can appreciate that, it just comes off as odd from this perspective. I have enough rules during day to day live that a week in the bush is where I get to shed those shackles and enjoy myself.
This whole hunting thing is about enjoying ones time.

Are people really that anal about having guns "put away" before someone has a beer? I can promise in a wall tent the booze and the guns are within feet of each other, has never been an issue for us.

If you hunt with your family, kids, best friends and their kids, and you run the camp.... You make the decision ! being responsible for their safety and the safety of others. It's not a game ! I wouldn't take any chance that some thing like this could harm the people that i care about . Stand up for what you believe in ... if you think its ok, then you can do as you please at your camp

hilarious descriptions are just that ... but the serious part is that some people are just Not ok with pot
