While my last cancer treatments are happening, I have my brownies, but you wouldn't know. It just targets the pain, not the mindset. You think I should quit hunting while I still can, sit home and read Outdoor Life?

Everybodys gotta make way for all these special needs people or else they get all pissy

So anyone and everyone who enjoys a toke is a junky and "special needs"? From someone who's from Happy Happy Town you would think you'd be a little more...tolerant.

All the best yo both of you. Cancer is a nasty bit#h, my wife had to go through it at an early age but came through with no issues.

Omg so a bunch of like minded people who enjoy freedom to shoot, hunt and be outdoors want to control what someone puts in there body....... wow you really got your priorities straight...... probably has already smoked there as it is on the low down...... I still can’t wrap my head around caring about what someone willfully ingests in there own body. Here’s a thought unless it is an issue effecting anyone else esp if it’s legal why waste your time worrying about it. Trying to say drinking is less harmful is ignorant and not true. People are on substances pharmaceutical or otherwise if your not a medical dr or mental health professional what background gives you the authority to decide what anyone other then yourself puts in there own body esp if it’s legal. Mind boggling the things we waste our time thinking about in regards to others.... the worst part about people is trying to manipulate the will of another persons beliefs and actions because you decide.

Pilots get safety reports from time to time. The idea is to learn by the experience of others (like the Mayday TV program).

One set of reports was commissioned by the US Navy. Their pilots fly onto aircraft carriers - at night. Probably the most difficult flying there is. They were having some crashes and commissioned reports on alcohol and pot from the University of Chicago. I wish I had kept copies.

They tested in full feature simulators.

Booze

Pilots flew a mission, sober. Made 10 small mistakes on average.

Pilots flew drunk. Made 75 mistakes. Some very serious ones (forgot to put gear down).

Pilots flew the next day. Blood alcohol level zero. Made 65 mistakes.

Conclusion: 24 hours, "throttle to bottle" is not long enough.

Pot

Test was similar to booze, except it took a month for a pilot to return to his sober performance. Pot is fat soluble (alcohol is water soluble) so it takes longer to metabolise.

My conclusion: Booze is ok in moderation at the hunt camp, but no one should get drunk because it will degrade performance the next day.

Pot will degrade performance the next day.

'

Did you mean pot will degrade performance for the next month?

So what about drinking? Whatchur thoughts on that?

And for the record, I don't drink or smoke ANYTHING, just interested in your perspective.

Hahahhahaha. Hunting camp is a place to relax and have fun. Heck last year we got so drunk we missed opening day... Hahahhahaha I think I woke up around 4pm hung over and still half in the bag.

You know who didnt miss opening day in our group? The 2 guys that dont drink but smoked reefer.

Weird how some of the snowflakes here think drinking is ok but smoking isnt...lol

Yeah I bet, nothing keeps me dragging my heels in the morning like a hangover now that I'm in my early 40's. Anyone I know that regularly smokes weed is always up early and ready to go.

Interestingly though my experience has always been the people most against the herb are the ones who most abuse the drink.

Agreed but I know a few chronic weed smokers who think anyone that has a couple drinks on the regular is a raging alcoholic, yet they can't go without a puff every couple hours lol. It's all about moderation as far as I'm concerned.

Monster, no. Judgemental or uninformed, quite likely. I always wonder about people that think weed and crack are the on the same plane, it's laughable.

LOL.....are you 110 years old? Who uses that term in this context, except the completely out of touch?

This thread wins today.

I hope that if it comes to our camp, we will treat it like booze. If it's used within reason, and is not creating a safety hazard, or affecting others go ahead.
While I can't say I've never been exposed to it, it was a very long time ago (hard not to get a higher education without a few puffs). Not much of a boozer either.

It is amusing that some people feel that since it is legal then it is ok. Well sadly you are mistaken in some instances. We have 2 employees that have medical scrips for pot and they were allowed to smoke up and then they were tested to see if they could still perform their duties. Both failed so while they can legally self medicate at home the can not do it at work. ( both were forklift operators and their reaction times were affected.) They both filed suit and both had the cases dismissed. Personally I feel that anyone hunting should be sober and not under any influence.
