Maxus feeding issue

yes I have been oiling the rails and mag tube. Has been kept very clean so far. Yeah its not too cold here right now, coldest I shot it was probably 5 or so.

allright so I thought I would write another update on what has happened in the last 10 days.

I now have 900 rounds through the gun. Cleaned after every use. The lifter issue seems to have gone away, but the problem with the fresh shell jamming is driving me crazy. its about 1/10 that jams, which is really annoying in a round of skeet when it happens 2 or 3 times! I pull the bolt back ever so slightly, the shell falls onto the carrier and goes in no problem.

it sort of looks like this:

ps bolt was removed for safety when pict was taken.

as you can see i switched to 3dram loads to see if it made a difference, which it didnt. anyone know whats going on?

The only others i have had are the win AA and im not spending 100 a case to make a gun work that should run on anything haha. also tried the super targets but they wouldn't eject the first round.

I tried the 2 3/4 dram feds and now the 3 dram and it didnt make any difference whatsoever. few guys at the range said that should have solved it....but i have no idea

I put another 150 rounds through it today. It jammed off the first shot, completely clean gun. From there on, it jammed about every 4th shot. Its driving me insane. I tried several different shells today and none of them made a difference. 10 or so people had a look at it and couldnt figure it out. We pretty much went through everything and dont know whats going on. this is my first/only gun, and i dont really want to have to send it back to browning for a month.

Heres a pict of one when it actually happened. Note: safety was on, we were at a range, and gun was in a safe direction

Its hard to tell from the pic but I am wondering if the shell is not riding straight on the carrier .would the carrier happen to be bent toward the ejection port .can you post a pic of the carrier looking from the bottom of the gun .

Jamming with two in the mag tube?? or have you even tried?? If not humor me.
Stock off and Recoil spring checked, cleaned and oiled??

Jamming no matter what. Plus 95% of the time i will be at a skeet field so no more than 2 at a time allowed.

rembolt: I have no idea, but its missing the chamber by about 1/8".

Thanks for your continued help guys!

Could be because the leading edge of the lifter is not equal by almost an 1/8th of an inch and looks like it would push it towards the ejection port.

Call browning. That should have been the first thing you did. Tell them that the gun shop that does the warranty work should give you a loaner in place of it while it is worked on.

Yup looks like the carrier is to far to the ejection port side of the receiver . my gun has hardly any gap between the carrier and the non ejection port side of the receiver.

Yeah there not equal, but the hull doesnt touch that part that early in the cycle i dont think...judging from wear marks

this actually makes a lot of sense....but there are wear marks on the inside of the receiver on that side showing that it rubs past slightly...which is weird because when i do it by hand it keeps the same gap in the pict.

So it jams the same with 2 in the mag tube?? vs one or not as frequently??? and you have had the stock off and checked and cleaned/oiled the recoil spring??
After that you checked the bolt to make sure is it going back all the way and operating smoothly??
No cracks in the mag tube follower and the spring is at least 10 inches longer than the tube when out and inside of tube nice and clean and oiled?? That pic you show providing the gas system is clean and not damaged doesn't look to me like a carrier issue.
Eliminate the common items first when you see shells hanging like your pic and I am not convinced that has been done. Yes I have a maxus, and some golds etc but mine don't jam and I cannot remember if they did since owning 1100's for so long it would just be part of a game and I would have fixed them as a regular occurance

yeah but i have only been in the bush once with it for 200 rounds so most of my time has been at skeet where only 1 n 1 are allowed.
I will take the stock off right now and see. i havent been in there yet.

is this clean enough? lol thats how it has been cleaned after every use. Jammed first shot today.

Those items shown can be new but it won't matter if that bolt is not getting back smoothly and far enough or the mag tube is not feeding as fast as required from a weak spring. The action is very quick and with target loads you don't have the extra to compensate for any burr, roughness in the cycle etc.Have to had the mag spring out and checked, tube cleaned and oiled etc ??

Here if you think I am full of crap I just found this. Looks like some here were thinking along the same lines. Plus some other ideas.
