Mentoring

I'd like to get a group together in eastern Manitoba. For deer hunting and possibly moose in 2014 seasons if we have any. Looking to get out with some ethical hunters this next season.

In the Niagara region and have done the moose hunt for a couple of years, really more just sitting around hoping for a moose to walk out never really had the opportunity to full out hunt. Bought conservation area permits for this year but quickly realized that just because you're in the woods doesn't mean a thing. Looking for help to fill my first turkey tag this and over the last couple weekends have been horribly unsuccessful. Hunting with a crossbow. Thanks.

Just found out today that I'm not invited back to the hunt camp this year. So I'm looking for another group that needs another moose rifle hunter in the draw (year 2 for me, so I can help). Located in the Hamilton area, I'm willing to split on travel, lodging, food, etc for a trip hopefully no farther than Thunder Bay. I'm geared up but don't have a truck. Over 40, go to the range semi-regularly, tech savvy. Send me a PM if you're looking for someone and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks.

Hi, I am in edmonton, alberta and looking for someone to hunt with this season. I do not have my licence but will be quick to get it if someone decides to give me my first experience.
I have a .22 w/ scope and an sks with a scope. I shoot at the range a lot as well as have many shotguns and absolutely love to shoot clays. Bird hunting would most likely be preferable.
PM me if you're willing to show me the ways! Thanks!

Youngblood here, looking to go in for Hunters Ed. early 2015 and ambitious about having a freezer full of Venison for the Holidays afterwards. Still pretty embyronic so if there's anyone in the Niagara Region (or GTA ideally) with a few "yeh 'lil whippersnapper"s of advice or opportunities that would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm a first time hunter from Quebec looking for a group in Qc or Ontario (within ~4 hours of Montreal preferably) for rifle hunting. I'd like to get into large game like boar , deer, elk, moose. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will be glad to exchange some PMs with you.
I'm extremely safe and don't condone stupid behaviour with firearms. I don't have a hunting method, but I would like to do stalking/tracking rather than treestand or hidout, basically I want to move around :D.

im a younger hunter in haldimand/norfolk area looking to meet up with some experienced hunters. let me know if you have room for one more to take along.

Hello, I am in Lanark ON and looking for someone to teach me the ropes of hunting. I have no experience but am eager to learn and willing to try hunting anything.

Thanks,
M

Does anyone get anywhere with this thread? Ive posted once before and got nothing, now I am residing in Prince George, BC. Scanning through this thread its difficult to see who is from the area or not. Would I be easier if the Mentoring thread was given its own forum, separated by Provincial threads?

That was my thoughts to, no point posting in a forum that is only visited by people who are looking for a mentor, but not visited by mentors.

that being said, I have been hunting geese over rivers for a few years now and was interested in trying/ learning to hunt them in a field. If there is anyone/ a group in Ottawa that wants to add another person for a couple of outings this year let me know. I don't have any goose decoys, but I can get my hands on a blind.

I've said it before many times. This thread Needs to be split into provinces. Many time's I would have taken someone out, only to read through here pages and pages of people from other provinces; eventually you just don't bother looking anymore. I suspect I'm not alone.

Or at the very least make it that each post has to begin with your area.

So for myself I'd put ALBERTA (but obviously start the post with that)

Doesn't split it all up, but at least gives a quick reference point to look at

I've offered to mentor new hunters in BC region 3 and region 5.... had a few guys take me up on it but bail right before the hunts. no biggie, I go anyways :D
one young fella we took out last year bagged his first moose..... on his second "real" hunting trip. I remember him trying not to laugh at my moose calls as I sweet talked that bull in from a ways off. and a couple years ago taking a young hunter a buddy sent my way into my favorite deer spot and he bagged a 4x5 blacktail buck.

it's hard to mentor a new hunter who just has a weekend , if the wife lets them LOL
I am interested in mentoring guys that are serious about it, take a week off , have appropriate gear to rough it for a week, and be prepared to walk yer ass off hehehe
I'll be chasing bucks, and willing to have a new guy along , in oct, region 3 , between oct 10 and oct 19
you will need silent clothing, no Velcro!!! on your clothes or packs, binos, and be proficient at 200 yards with your rifle. we test that out on day 1 of hunting.
you gotta have good footwear that you have worn already to know you'll be dry and comfortable all day.
be prepared for temps to -10
hmmmm I dunno, my offer will be made again this year. our crew is a very well equipped, very laid back bunch of true n blue BC boys from 20 up to 50 years old. no elitism, no attitudes, no boozing, but otherwise, pm me and we'll take it from there

Looking for People to hunt Duck and Geese With

I have just Moved back to Peterborough ON after 15 years in BC. I am looking for people to hunt Duck and geese with. I did not have any opportunity to hunt waterfowl out there, just a lot of deer and Bear. Pretty much all set up (truck, boat, decoys). I have had some minor success with geese, enough to get me obsessing (not that it takes much, lol). But I m looking for guys that know or want to figure out water fowling. I know of very few spots in my area that i have access to hunt. Please message me for more info if interested.
