Ok, so after a bit of collaboration and several beers with a fellow nut, I have come up with "THE RULES". As follows:
1)Rifle: any milsurp, manufactured 1955 and prior(or by permission). If you're not sure, ask. Sorry guys, in the spirit of the milsurp competition, bubba's are not invited.
2)Action:Anything. Bolt, straight pull, semi auto, whatever. No restrictions.
3)Sights: Original military issue ONLY. Iron sights only, no optics or spotting scopes.
4)Shooting Position: Bench top, front support only(i.e. sandbag). Slings are OK, but otherwise no rear supports permitted.
5)Ammo: Commercial loads or milsurp only. Handloads may be considered by special permission for "unobtanium" or by gratuitious begging
6)Targets:
http://www.surplusrifle.com/reviews/lilmiss/pdf/target.pdf only. 5 shots per target.
7)Entry: Each shooter may enter 1 target per rifle. Shoot as many targets as you want and enter the best one. You may enter more than one rifle. To enter email a picture (similar to Klunks example) of your target and the rifle used to
cgnmilsurpshoot@yahoo.ca on or before March 20th, 2006. Include your CGN handle, date shot, rifle(Country, model, caliber, any special history etc) and ammo specs. Targets will be graded and results posted ASAP. Everlasting CGN glory and bragging rights will be awarded to overall best score. If there are enough entries to justify it, additional categories may be awarded i.e. best score by a Mosin, Mauser, Enfield and "miscellaneous" or something similar.
That should do it. Please use common sense in interpreting these rules. If this shoot works out without too many hang ups or headaches, I'd like to do a more elaborate one in the future. Shoot safe!
