more wholesale sports bs

They are no different than most of the other dealers . 80% of there so called items for sale are NOT IN STOCK .

Oh do they take your money and then on the day you should be getting your order they call and say they are out of stock, buy some lackey who don't know about "guns and stuff." ummm no.

WSS has been good to me

Wow, you guys have no luck:D

I have dealt with WSS for years. I have bought bows, guns, reloading gear etc with no big problems. They sometimes are out of stock but always call me.

I was recently in the Kamloops store and received excellent service from a young fella there, with whom I had a great conversation since he wanted to try IDPA or IPSC.

Guess I have been fortunate:D

Keep reading these posts....go to other stores...stay out of WSS so when I go in there will be no line-up. :D

My only other option around here is to pay $10 MORE per box of 100 bullets at the local gun shop.

I dont have any real problem with WSS as a mail order store. It was just their cop out on telling me that the CCI primers i ordered thru them werent available cause they all go to the US Army. He didnt even offer a suggestion of another primer brand, thats the part that burns my ass. I live in an area where big box sporting goods stores are about a 4hr drive away, more if i have to get on the ferry and go across to Vancouver. Gets expensive real fast

Dealt with them for many years. No real problems. Simple fact is when there is a war on the factories divert supply to the military and if there are left overs then they go to the US market. Canada gets the remainder. Unfortunate but that is how it works.

Procurement isn't the easiest job in the world to do.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them in the store. What ticks me off is when things like the following happen.

I wanted a .22 cal bullet puller collet for my RCBS puller die
No luck, no stock, we have 8 of them in Calgary. I can have one shipped up for you.
I told him fine. As well, you don't have this, this and that. Can you check stock in Calgary.
He does and says they have everything.
Fine. Please order them.
No problem. What's your name and number
I give it to him.
At least twice a week, I wander into the store to see if my stuff is in. Nope.
After a month, and still nothing, I'm looking around at other stuff in the cabnets. Sure enought, there are no less than 5 .22 collets now in stock in the display cabnet. Also, they now have 2 of the lead ladle I ordered sitting on the shelf. I don't know who was dumber. Them for screwing up all the time, or me for going back all the time. Unfortunately, they're the only place in Edmonton with any bullet casting stuff that I knew of.

SLANDER!

I have had ####e service from them as well. My first two orders were fine but then the next was a joke. The phone service is crap.

I agree that the service at the Kamloops WSS is pretty good, and their prices are better than the other local option. However, WSS only gets some of my business; I want to have that "other option" around, because they actually give a damn about shooting sports.

I placed an order in August at SIR, and they finally sent me the last package this week. Ordered 6 items, and they have sent me 5 shipments to fill that order. Don't know how they make any money....

My first and only experience with them, was my first firearms purchase two weeks ago. I used their online ordering since I don't live near one of their stores. At the completion of the transaction, it said that I would be paying by Money Order, even though I had selected Visa and entered my info. It also didn't ask for my PAL number, which I thought was odd. I called them and left a message with my cell number and advised them of the problems. They called a few days later on the number on file, not the one I gave them, and asked for my info, including my PAL. I wasn't at the number they called, and they don't have very good hours, so I had to call them the next day. I gave them my info, but when they asked for my DOB, I gave month, day year as you would when speaking to a friend. Two days later they call on the wrong number again and leave a message that they didn't have the correct PAL expiry date or the correct DOB for me. I called them back again and then gave it to them including slashes and the month in numerical format so they wouldn't have trouble entering it. At this point, it's almost a week after I ordered it, and they haven't shipped the rifle and I'm getting annoyed. I asked if it would be appropriate to throw in some free shipping or a box of ammo since I am a first time customer and have had what I consider poor service. "I'm not that department" the clerk said, and transferred me to someone else. "No, we don't do anything like that" the gentleman told me. It's simply a case of incorrect information, and we couldn't ship it until we get the right info". I have now received it, but did they register/transfer it into my name, or do I have to do this? I'm afraid to call them to get the answer...

Across the bridge in North Kamloops?

I think on Tranquille but right now I don't recall the street name. It is just down from Surplus Herbie's.

Lots of good stuff in both those stores:)

John

Yes, I was referring to the Powderkeg, and yes, they're on Tranquille, further up the road from herbie's, across from the SallyAnn store. Small, independent gun shops like this are exactly what we need to support. In fact, I may drop a few bucks in there today...

Small, independent gun shops like this are exactly what we need to support.

So true, but in the end many will shop at the small shops, decide what they want, and end up dropping their cash at WSS to save a few bucks. That of, course, will be followed by starting yet another new thread on CGN about how the underpayed clerk at WSS didn't hold there hand.

Wanted to buy a plain jane el-cheapo least expensive 597 from WSS Edm. and they had none. But Calgary had 16 of them, "No problem" they say they'll just transfer one up....after waiting two weeks and no call, I went in and was told once theres a "full pallet" of stuff then they ship. WTF????
I ended up driving to Cow-town, picked up the gun and visiting some frerinds I haven't seen in a couple of years.
I did get a call eventually to say my gun arrived. I didn't bother calling back.

I find that WSS is ok to deal with if the stuff you want is visible to YOUR eye, but if the staff have to go looking you're most likely going to get, "Sorry, out of stock" or "Its coming in next week".
