Mossberg 500/590 Info

Looking to replace my factory 500 stock with a Magpul variant. Looking at it I'm not sure which size bolt/washer it is, as I have to buy a socket wrench/torque wrench for the job. Could anyone recommend me what they used to get the bolt off? Thanks

Some are slotted for a flat screwdriver as well as a socket wrench.
The standard one is a grade 8 bolt, 5/16" x 18 TPI (threads per inch) 5 1/2 inches long .
Hope that helps .

Anyone have a spare black synthetic OEM Mossberg 590 buttstock?

As the poster above (Channel 0) mentioned the only replacement available from CGN vendors appears to be a Magpul SGA at $150-$175...

A few CGN vendors have the Hogue 590 overmold buttstock and foreend set, but all sold out.

eBay - no luck.

Currently have a Mossberg 590S with the synthetic stock. The butt is a little long for the wife to use correctly and was looking for a decent adjustable butt stock as a replacement. I've looked around a lot of sites and see mention of a lot of replacements that are for compatible with 500's, 590's, 590A1's and even 590M's but no mention of the 590S. Would it be reasonable to assume that a stock compatible with the the versions mentioned, would work with a 590S?

Thats a reasonable assumption, the only one that would be different, for a Mossberg, would be one using the flex system.

Shoot me a message, I don't mind clearing out my storage

I'll bump the thread by adding something I didn't know and the guys here on CGN assisted. Parkerized finishes (590A1), should be oiled or greased like seasoning a cast iron pan. The Parkerizing has a sandy finish and is crystalyn in its structure. Theses crystals hold oil/grease in their mediums and it is this that gives corrosion protection.

I cut 3/4" off the butt of my 590S and the LOP is perfect now.

I think if it has the bayo lug then it is an A1 barrel
pretty sure the reg 590 barrels do not have the bayo lugs. I have a tactical 590 and it has no bayo lug on it
