Most accurate .22 without breaking the bank??

Pffft! I used to head-shot squirrels with my factory 10/22 at 500 yards; usually got them right in the eye too. I always tried to time the shot between blinks cause I didn't want to waste the eyelid meat.

I had a Nylon 66, really a fun little gun. The best I could do at 100 yds was approx 2" groups.
Please post a target to prove this claim. Otherwise please raise the BS Flag.

I went cheap with my .22. I have a Mossberg 801 Plinkster with a 2X scope that I sighted in to 100 m. It may not be the most accurate gun out there, but I've had fun with it at the pistol range with some of the interactive targets and head to head stuff. Yes I put the bolt action against semi automatics... and I win every once in a while too! lol
And just for fun, I've gone after the 150 m and 200 m gong with it... Yeah that is quite the hold over in order to hit those!
The main thing is get something that you can have fun with! You don't have to spend a lot of money on it in order to have fun.

I bought an old Savage Model 19 NRA edition target rifle for $100 and it shoots like a dream at 25 yards. Never tried it at anything above that range. If I put a scope on it would it be good enough for gophers at 50 yards with CCI Stinger hollow points?
Our gun club has a 22 LR circle who get together once a while. I hear they shoot at distances of 200 - 300 yards. That's as far as i know, since I have never joined them myself. Likewise, I don't know what kind of equipment or ammo...they are using. but this thread got me curious. How do they do that? I will have to check them out this summer.

My long range .22 setup is a Cooey model 60 with a 3-12X40 turret scope shooting Federal 510 solid point lead 40gr. I use a Bushnell Elite 1500 rangefinder. On a relatively calm evening it will peg a 6" gong 8 or 9 times out of 10 at 200yd. It will do the same at 300yd on a 13" car rim. At 300yd my scope was dialed up to the limit 33MOA up fom 100yd zero, and I had to hold over another two MOA.

I bought a ruger 10/22 target and was less then impressed at the results at long range so I went the budget route and got a savage mark II. I will not claim fist sized groups at 300 but I will say that grouse head shots at 100 are possible. Any shooting at 50 yards and you are trying to shoot the tack holding up your target. Up close at 20 yards it is downright surgical. The one thing I would stress for the longer range stuff is to go buy 1 box of every kind of ammo you get get your hands on. Ammo grouping at different distances was very dependent on brand. My advice is to go with a savage. their 2010 models are on their site now and they look nice!

The Anschutz should be capable of decent groups at 100 yards.
I have an MPR that can do a 1/2" at 100 yds. Sadly the shooter cannot do this on a regular basis.
Oh, the Anschutz is a tack-driver alright....unfortunately it's HER tack driver....
I want something for me, without spending that kind of cash again....
Withhold all bedroom services until she argees to let you use her Anshutz once in a while.

If It had been 200 yards with good optics in a highly regarded bolt action, I would accept it. Don't forget that there are a lot of seasoned, experienced shooters here, rimfire as well as Centerfire. We know what is possible, and what is not. Eagleye.BTW, The OP should buy a CZ 452/453 for his purposes.

Also what make is that scope & is it the AdjustableObjective type?
I've heard from quite a few others also that Savage 22LRs are very accurate!

Maybe you can find a CIL Model 310 (they were built by Anschutz - I have one). Just like all Anschutz rifles, its a tackdriver at any reasonable .22 range.
