Most over rated or over hyped pistol?

But most of the handguns mentioned so far (SIG, Beretta, H&K, 1911 and Glock) are pretty damn good guns--what about the ones hyped in the press that turn out to be flops, like:
-Colt All American 2000 & Double Eagle
-Bren Ten (good idea, poor execution)
-S&W Third Gen (well, maybe these weren't commercial flops but I've not met a lot of folks who really liked them)

The P7M13 was OK but it wasn't anything special I thought, just another 9mm, though truth be known I did keep it longer than the Beretta 92SB I had. This was during my Euroguns are cool phase, thank god I grew out of that.:D

and I wholeheartedly disagree about the P7...that is one of my all time favourites!

+2

I've owned a few Beretta 92's over the years. Even before they became the designated US military sidearm. I think the US military is currently looking to go back to the .45ACP. And you can bet it won't be on a Beretta frame. Doubt I'd own one again unless I got a super deal on one & then it'd be flipped quickly... :D No longer a Beretta fan, I'm afraid...

When I was at the Wild West Shooting centre I had the chance to shoot a group of different 9mm pistols...all of them were dirty and had quite a bit of fouling on them from the day's shooting(just after Xmas) and out of the group(Berretta92F, Glock17, STI Trojan, Berretta Model L, Sig 226) The Beretta gave the best group, followed by the STI, then the SIG, then Model L, and lastly the Glock(horrible grouping).

Of course I was rapid firing...so that may have something to do with it

Although I prefer 1911 designs and the SIG also, the Beretta 92 was quite comfortable to shoot and was a natural pointer(like the 1911)

Glock gets the award for the most over rated gun IMO

Oh no, you guys are gonna make IM_Lugger cry :(

Seriously, what's wrong with Beretta? While I'm not the biggest fan of the 92fs, I always thought that it was an adequate gun. I know that the early ones had all sorts of problems with exploding slides and cracking frames, but aren't those issues corrected in the current version?

The Beretta is just bigger than it needs to be IMHO especially with the big ass table-leg grip. :p

Browning HP fits me perfect, though. :D

I would have to agree with the glock. I bought one from a friend for a good price about 2 years ago and what a piece of crap comparied to my 1911. Goofy square grip just didn't do it for me and I had some failure to feed problems. I had it for 3 weeks before I sold it. I know the Edmonton Police ammorer and have had many discussions on various pistols/revolvers that the service has used and when I mention the Glock he rolls his eyes and calls it a huge pos.

OK I'm really curious; how exactly is 92FS a POS? and how is a Sig, Hk etc is a better gun? Yes, I'm really asking...

as a beretta owner I'm 100% happy with it; I'm yet to see any advangates what so ever that other guns might have over the 92FS!

and how does a size make a gun POS? it's hardly any larger than BHP or Sig, there are HKs that are a quite bigger so does that make HK Expert and Elite a POS too? It's not like we can cary anyways :( (Btw 92fs was designed as a sidearm not a CCW piece)...

HK's followed by the IMI Desert Eagle followed by Beretta. BUt at least Beretta has good service support in Canada

While I personally don't like Glocks, they hold up pretty goods. BUt not nearly as good as the SIGS.

Just my 2 cents

And that should be all that matters. If you like it, good.;)

Personally, I wouldn't buy one - even if they were half price, because I don't like them. The beretta 92's have an extremely uncomfortable grip (for me) and don't point that well (for me.) I found the triggers on the two that I tried to be absolutely horrendous. The bluing on the 2 I've handled seemed to wear off with some very minimal holster use.:p

you're right :) btw I really don't care what peopel think about Berettas...

btw was did you shoot a DAO model? SA/DA is pretty good...

Glocks as far as overrated/hyped.

Nothing against Glocks, just not my bag, don't like the grip angle as much as others. But for the brand that more owners want to advertise as being soooo much better than everthing else, almost magically effective, to the point of saying things like "If you ever have a home invasion, you'd be wishing you had a Glock then" Glocks gotta be it. Not every Glock owner of course, but more than any other pistol brand. IME.

I've not experienced Beretta owners being as obnoxious about the right(ious)ness of their brand choice as Glock owners.

I'd buy any of them if I found one I liked shooting more than a CZ or a BHP. Fine brands hype aside.
