My rifle shoots 1/2" groups @100 yards all day! Really? Prove it.

Now I am getting another itch :)

Oh, God. I hate it when that happens. There's no cream that'll take it away. You just have to spend your way out of it. ;)

Nothing wrong with a 6x45mm (6/223) or 6TCU for playing around. I've got a 1:8" twist Broughton barrel and a Weatherby Vanguard action just waiting for an excuse to be put together. A 6x35mm (6mm Whisper) is another leading candidate for me.

Pardon my skepticism, but if the 9 ring is 1" and the 10 is 0.5", one edge of the 10 ring to the opposite side of the 9 ring should be 0.75". How do your calipers get 0.7415" here? Also, why cover the #'s with your thumb on your caliper?

PS, excellent thread going here. Can't wait to try it out (and more than likely fail again and again for the next few years...)

And if you ever want to sell it let me know first. I have the sister barrel and it is the most accurate barrel I've shot to date in 1-8" twist.
I'm just resisting bringing it out for this challenge.

Oh yeah! I sold it to you, didn't I? ;) Knowing me, I kept the dud. lol Good to know I just might have a "keeper". I'm not a 6mm fan in the slightest but I've got about +3,000 B.Tips & V-MAX's on hand that need to get shot up.

A number of years ago, I bought (3) 6mmPPC barrels on the EE that had out lived their purpose for BR work but are plenty accurate for a varmint rifle or for target use. I had one re-chamberred in .243 Win. on a 700 action. I've played around with it some shooting 55gr. Noslers with 21.5gr of Blue Dot. Accuracy is decent and velocity is 3,100 fps.

I'm confused as well. If its a .243/6mm bullet. 3 of them side by side touching in line would measure .729" outside, and yet from the picture we see there's room to squeeze another 1 easy in there for a line of 4.

There's quite a lot of bigger #### syndrome in here. It's like some people need to have a film crew watching the shooter to actually confirm that they are making the honest shot.

But also some fine shooting!! Nice!

The only thing I can think of is the caliper isn't zeroed properly and with the thumb there you can't tell. He'd get a reality check if those groups were measured at a BR match.

I think you are wrong on this. Everyone has been very honest in their group sizes. Yes, there is one group that has caused some skeptics to speak up, but no one is being unfair.

If the groups didn't make the offical rules minumum of .5", why the argument as to the measurements?

Knew it wouldnt take long to turn into chit show..lol

It may or may not be a CHIT show. I want to believe that there are people on this Forum can be honest and not have to BS. I could question and doubt a lot myself. Like how many attempts did some of the people whom attempted this challenge ACTUALLY do it on there first attempt? Do I care, NO. I am documenting my every attempt to prove that these types of rifles and that consistent shooting is NOT easy. Of the people who have met the challenge I have no reason to question them except for the group that is in question.

To prove this I have an actual score target. One that appears to have been used in the picture. I set my Verniers to the same .7415 and set it up against the target. This should be proof that something is NOT right. No assumptions at all. I did this numerous times and get the same result.

See below.

I'm just gonna take the guys word for it as he has the target and the sheer fact that he's posting and throwing it out there is enough for me. Its on the line ;)

C4pyro, yes it may be cheap and free but not all may be up to using it. Myself included. I measure all my groups with a measuring device that is used for BR matches. What I do not understand about OnTarget is you need to be able to reference the target to something. Maybe give a tutorial of a random target from say my targets that I have posted on this thread. The way I understood the software is it worked best if you were actually able to scan the target and then use the software.
