I'd do more diagnose on that.
FTE and DF sometime may feel like the same, but they are different.
Most common things for 102 is the bullet tip hitting below the feeding ramp, and unstable mags. Don't assume the mag comes with the rifle is 100% good.
I would try different types of factory ammo, and see what might changes.
Reloading for SEMI's is a BIG topic and many more things need to pay attention than bolt gun.
Always use brasses fired by this particular barrel/bolt, don't mix brasses from other guns/barrels.
And remember, a good load for this particular barrel, might not be a good load for the current gas/buffer/mag system.
Above all, semi need more works for fine tune.
Excellent advice. Some points to test to get a feel of where the problem lies in your rifle. All below applies to ANY AR platform as they share the same quirks
if stovepiping, not enough gas is hitting the BCG. take the BCG out, pull the bolt forward and sit on a table face down. The bolt should not slide back into the BC. if it does, swap in new bolt gas shims. The Bolt will feel a bit stiff going back and forth at first... there is supposed to be some resistance. of course, also check that there is an open path for gas to go from the block to the BCG.
To test the extractor and ejector, just run dummy rds through the rifle and it doesn't work now, it will not work when fired.
for FTF, you need to make up dummy rds with the bullet you want to use seated to the OAL desired. FYI, the max mag length may not be the length you will set the cartridge OAL... it may be shorter, alot shorter.
problem areas... bad mags, bad mag latch, poorly machined lower, improper barrel location in the upper, not enough bevel in the barrel breech face. For 308, I make my dummy rds using 150gr FMJs' cause I know the bullet tip is not going to stick or peen along the way.
I like to put 5 into the mag, lock into the lower, hand cycle the BCG - pull all the way back and let it fly forward. It the bullet jams, you can easily see where it is jamming and adjust as needed.
if the bullet tip is hitting below the chamber, fix may include mag tuning, latch tuning, barrel tuning, change in OAL. Each part can be diagnosed independently to find the problem area. Don't be shy to try various brands of mags and some mags will need adjusting to work.
Can be a bunch of work....
Properly sized cases is a must and err on the side of a hint small vs a hint big. I want my case headspace to be 3 to 4 thou shorter then the rifles. Dropping into the chamber will lead to an easy extract
When you get the dummy rds cycling into and out of the rifle smoothly and reliably, odds are they will also work fine when fired.
YMMV
