Just a quick question for both owners of the separated barrels - were these barrels ever reindexed at some time?
Not that I know of the riffle was brand new never fired and it let go on the fourth round.

You're welcome! I hope you have good safety glasses
I'd love a value brand M14 but I can't trust Chinese manufacturing. Call me biased, I am.
you can always buy a new Springfiel Armory M1A , 4 times the price and 10 times the problems!
Probably not with the naked eye. You'd probably have to take it apart and run the parts through an NDT shop.
If yours is working just keep shooting it. Given the number of M305 circulating around and only two of such stories now then I'd say you're probably good.
Thanks Starstream,
That sounds similar to my expectations (I cannot say that I'm familiar with "NDT"). I won't be losing sleep before firing my M305 again, but I'll be sure to wear extra eye protection and use commercial ammo the first time I shoot a shorty should I pick one up.
Folks have short memories 'round these parts. Here is what happened to my m305 on the first rnd, circa 2005.

I wasn't here in '05. What was the final verdict in why your barrel broke in the same place? Would you ever own another?Folks have short memories 'round these parts. Here is what happened to my m305 on the first rnd, circa 2005.

How cold was it when you were shooting?
