You are correct, you don’t get it. It’s got nothing to do with your apartment. It does have to do with Saskatchewan landowners and their traditional and respected relationship with hunters. The law as it exists was enacted to allow hunters and game management to manage the number of deer to minimize impact on farmers by overpopulation and crop destruction. It’s worked well, for the most part, and has resulted in the best “book” deer in the world. The number of farmer complaints, in my area, is minimal to nonexistent about hunters at least, mostly due to me being in one of the zones that restricts vehicles to roads unless retrieving legally killed big game. Sounds like ruts and off-road hunters is an issue in some areas, maybe that’s an easier fix than destroying the long term relationship that exists? Since serm started actively prosecuting off-road hunters in my zone several years ago, the number of driveby hunters has dropped to near zero. I’m more worried about thieves than hunters, I think there are laws on the book that cover that.
If you’ve got 20 sections that you post, and you are paying $20 per sign, you’ve got more acres than brains, wtf? You can buy metal signs for under $6 a piece...
And I sure as hell hope you have the fortitude to stand by your convictions and never apply for predation cash for geese or deer from the government. I’d be pissed to give you my hard earned $ so you could claim your right to every living thing on your land.
Farmers and hunters in Saskatchewan have always had a good relationship, a few idiots as in life, nothings perfect. I guess I take the long view, less hunters, less interest in hunting/firearms, we are f*****.
If you are serious about your no trespassing update, couple of things need to happen:
Every piece of land needs an active contact. Phone number, no corporate names
Rm maps need to be available online, at no cost, with the above for all parcels
