I also believe that they need to be marked once inside the country. Isn't this why all the firearm importers are against it even more so then!?!?!?

This is my understanding as well.

Simply put, it will be the importer or Canadian manufacturer who will be responsible to ensure the proper markings are applied. If this goes into effect in six short months, a marking of either 'Canada' or 'CA' must be applied the importer's expense. CSSA estimates this could be in the $200 neighborhood per firearm. Regardless of the amount, all costs will be passed on to the consumer, as is the norm.

Won't matter. China has been marking their firearms in accordance with the UN treaty for a while now. The last couple of Norinco firearms that I bought are marked something like: CH CA 2016. They will just mark them when they apply the other markings. Contrary to the assertions by the some of the firearms advocacy who claimed that was illegal, there is nothing in he regulation to stop the exporter from marking them prior to export.

I am pretty sure if Chinese firearm only marked "CH CA 2016", the Canadian importer will have to mark it again with "CA" + name of the manufacturer and the firearm's serial number + last two digits of the year of importation. It will be pretty big and long. And there is no firearm will be under $200, the cheapest SKS will be over $400.

Not true. Read the regulations. Nowhere does it state WHERE or by whom it must be marked. All it says is that it must be marked within a set number of days of arriving in Canada. It does NOT state that they cannot be marked before arriving in Canada nor does it state that the importer must be the one to mark it. You have to remember that for all the good they do, organizations like the CSSA and the NFA are merchants of fear. Fear is their bread and butter. the more they can whip people up and scare them, the more donations they get. The UN marking scheme is asinine and unnecessary but it is nowhere near the apocalypse that it has been made out to be.

That is the bill of goods being sold by the CSSA to raise donations. The regulations say nothing of the sort.

Yes maybe just "CA 16" is enough, but it will still rise the cost of firearm. I didn't say it is apocalypse, I know a lot of people can live with it. My question is why we cannot fight with this useless marking? Why a lot of people just accept it and pay it even it is ridiculous, and don't want to contribute CSSA and NFA to make our community more stronger(even less pay than UN marking)? Yes maybe they make a fear, but IMO fight back is better than keep quiet.

the markings on my rifles (will post photos when I get a chance) meet the requirements of the regulation. Nothing wrong with opposing this useless measure but we need to stick to the facts while doing so. The gun lobby groups are doing themselves a serious disservice by portraying this as some sort of apocalypse that will add $200 to the cost of every gun. It won't. The NFA will not get a cent of my money but I am a CSSA member and about to join the CCFR as well.

If we as a community are to succeed and thrive, we need to always appear as the common-sense, rational side of the argument. The more we do that, the more we make the antis look shrill and overly emotional not to mention sensational in their ridiculous assertions If we start to act in the same way as they do, then we come across as no better. If we are to win the war over gun control, we, the 10% ort so of Canadians who are gun owners and care about gun rights need to appear smarter and more rational than the 10% or so who are rabidly anti-gun and we need to appeal to the 80% or so who don't care one way or another as long as they are not worried about being gunned down in the street or in a shopping mall.

They said this winter which would between December 21 2016 and March 21, 2017. I am hoping for sooner rather than later...on the bright side, it will be fully paid off (Tactical Capital) by the time it arrives.

I am having my doubts since all their pre-orders go for a chit. They haven't provided any updates recently, keep bumping an EE ad to sell more and their webpage is down.

^^^^^Ya their website has crashed.....I'm thinking they have arrived and they are getting our orders shipped out and updating remaining inventory currently

That's a pretty big assumption. Could be in a non extradition country with everyones money. An update would be nice.

You obviously aren't familiar with the SG542 fiasco. They were supposed to be exclusive and another retailer got them before TI and TI were delayed many months after.

both my Norinco and VZ have CA 15 on them. Price didn't go up

I wish this were true!

Their site is back up and no updates on their part so its doubtful.

Well there goes that mental masturbation of feel good ideas.

Tactical Imports will get more than a month advanced notice that a container is to be delivered from China. Necessary paperwork must be prepared and submitted. Then depending on how it's routed it will take a month or more to reach them in Ontario either by Sea and truck or Sea and rail. I have a container that just departed China for Halifax last Friday and will arrive mid January.

Sooooooo they should be more than capable of giving an update well in advance of receiving the goods.

Wow thanks for the insight, pretty cool to hear about the process and timeline.

Now this begs the question; right now we would be looking mid january... And there's not even an update about production beginning.
