Next one will be blonde...NOW FINISHED !!!

Looks like Marstar did not have the parts in stock (if I had known 3 weeks ago...) anyway, I'll probably make some sort of bent metal pieces for the "nosecap". They will not be closed at the tip, I'll probably leave it to wood.

A bit of bandsaw tonight. I traced the shape by taking the bubbaed stock as a model. Next I cutted with the saw. Next step will be to fabricate the 2 steel parts riveted to the wood under the front band, then fit the center band, and finally shape everything round.

I ordered a sling, bayonet (No 9 blade !) and a new buttplate today...this will look good on my rifle I'm sure

You should take it to the range just onece while its still a block. Just for the looks you will get lol. But its gonna look good when your done.

When you were fitting the action, did the action move forward in the stock any since the rear of the fore end is angled?

Fitting the center band

Tonight I fitted the center band. Thanks to Louthepou I now know it is 13 1/2from the muzzle !

I marked the band shape on paper, and with scissor I made a jig.

In the vise for the final fitting

Et voilĂ , the band is fitted. I'll leave the upper handguard one piece. I know on the original they are appart, but I'll keep mine in one piece. It will end up nicer this way

Bob, I have a piece of LB forestock from center of the middle band up to the nose with the metal you need and Marstar cannot provide. I think I have a damaged upper front handguard as well which would give you the upper piece too. I'll donate it all for free, just pay the parcel post. P.M me your shipping address if you want it. I was saving the cut fore end for a cheap de-bubba with an under band splice but I have a few spare LB forestocks anyway, so I don't really need it. I love this thread by the way. VERY nice work!

PM sent, thanks a lot !

As of now I'm waiting for parts to finish the wood, as soon as I got the parts I'll finish it, if all goes well by the end of the week it will be ready.

I did not get the metal parts I'm waiting for, but I got a totally useless accessory, but oh so cool, a no 9 bayonet ! (and a sling, and a buttplate)

YAY, I finally started my maple set. You were right, that stuff is hard.

Go slow, and don't be shy to ask me if you have question. And don't forget to take pics...

I removed the pieces from the wood I received, and I fitted them on my wood, using band saw, chisel, and a rasp. Let the pics do the talking.
