NORC 223/556 ammo jamming up my Norc 10.5 inch AR

I've shot well over 1000 rounds of the Yellow Box (CJ 93 I guess) stuff and haven't had any issues with it. Been firing out of my 16" DDM4 V3. Seems like this latest batch of Norinco is scary stuff.

The primer is not poping out. The firing pin indents the primer. The small indentation is then blown into the firing pin hole of the bolt.

Ohhhh, A puncture. This makes much more sense now.

I once had some Rem primers do that in my bolt action back in the day with some hot loads.

I'll pay more attention to my CJ95, I noticed odd smoke as described coming out my 16" the other day, but the machine kept running and I thought nothing of it. So far my 11.5" has eaten it up no problems.

CJ-93 rocked, it was a bit hot tho. I noticed that CJ-95 is a bit weaker then 93. The POI changed on my 16" so they are def' not the same.

Another problem with the Norc AR-15 is that the extractor spring is weaker than the ejector spring causing them to jam frequently.

I had this problem quite a bit before replacing it.

Havent tried the spam can norc ammo but I ran a few hundred rounds of yellow box through a 10.5 with zero issues.

Edit- My rifle did have a spikes tactical extractor spring installed - maybe helped?

I went through almost a case in three different AR's without any problem then in a carbine course near the end of the day it jammed up, so I went to my Tavor to finish the course. The other day at the range do a couple of rapid fire drills again it jams up, after I finally clear it, low and behold there is the culprit a primer in the locking lugs. Try the same thing in my other AR jams again another primer. My buddy is shooting his AR it jams there is that primer. I'm thinking heat might also bye playing a role in this. Winter and spring no issues. Issues started in the summer and when running the gun a little hard. Mine is CJ93. So I've personally seen the same issue in 4 AR's ranging from 14.5" to 7.5", plus basically the guy I was shooting with had the same issue in his and he was the one to tell me what to look for. I'm also sure they were full primers that were blown out. Maybe I'll save it for my cold weather ammo.

PS the makes of the rifles also varied so I can't see it being rifle related.

I originally had problems extracting when i first bought the rifle over a year ago.. i installed the extractor booster kit from brownells a few weeks later and not a single hiccup since then, until i started using this ammo a few weeks ago.. but i never had extraction problems with it.. just the bits of primer in the bolt causing misfires and stuck bolt syndrome.

i dont know if i mentioned before, but i had put a couple of hundred rounds of the norc ammo through the rifle before i started having problems.. it was a second batch that i had bought that started giving me problems.

whats the barrel lenghth of your AR?

Im shootin a 14.5"

I still don't understand how a primer can be liberated from the case when it is being held in by bolt face. That is, unless your AR was very very poorly timed.

Any primer would pop out of any caliber if it is not properly supported, there has to be something more to this.

I'm only about a few hundred into my case of CJ-95. So far no problems other then a couple of fails to extract with my 16", but that's a gun issue I'm aware of.
My last case of CJ-93 rocked.
If you look at the pic i posted on the first page, the primer is still there, but there is a significant puncture in it. the chunk that got spat out the back is ending up in the BCU. In my case, i have found them mashed in the firing pin hole.

I just bought a case of this stuff! I hope it works okay in my DPMS. I had a bunch of CJ91 stuff a few years back and it worked flawlessly in my Mini 14. I hope this new case is as good as the last batch I had.

No body here wants this stuff to work more than I do..... I priced out some other options, and their all pretty expensive. I considered going to steel, but I want the brass incase I decide to reload in the future!

It has been explained to me that after a number of breached primers, the hot gas that blasts past your firing pin can actually sharpen your firing pin. This makes it even more likely to caus a problem going forward. I'm beginning to wonder if the same gas has deformed any part of my bolt.

I have ran the CJ95 in multiple ARs , Tavor and Swiss Arms , the primers pop out and jam up the action, It short strokes in the Tavor for some reason ? , the Swiss runs it fine it seems, i think it just chews up the primers with that beast of a action lol ? With my ARs i cant even get through 100 rounds without having to pry a primer out of the locking lugs ,I think DI rifles make the issue worse for some reason ..

When i reloaded some of the brass the primer pocket did seem less tight than most when i seated my new cci primers , i shot 50 reloads without losing a primer .. so the chinese primers could be a bit undersized .. They should have crimped the primer pocket, its a shame, because this ammo otherwise is clean burning and accurate. Hope they never sold it to anyone who had their life on the line! This ammo would be a absolute nightmare in a select fire rifle or LMG.

Head stamp is C J 95 on the problem stuff..

I'm having this problem in a Norinco CQA with a 10.5 inch barrel.. One of my buddies is having the same problem in his Norc 14.5 inch AR (including the bits of metal)..

I checked my fired brass and didnt see anything strange on the primer.. it looked like a normal strike.. unless its the anvil from the primer thats getting lodged in there..

i never found anything in the trigger assy area..

I shot the same amount of rounds (about 20) out of my Colt HBAR 20.5 inch barrel and didn't experience any problems with it..

The strange thing is that this problem just started recently.. i had previously put at least 200 rounds of this ammo through the CQA without any problems.. maybe a different lot or something.. very strange
Anybody know what headstamp the stuff reliable in Vancouver had on sale for $400/case???
