Norinco JW-15A Compact Hiker New Arrival

Hi Original - In case you're checking this thread, the new JW magazines are indeed 9 rounds. The exterior dimensions are original 10 round size, but if you take them apart (the bottom metal slides off....be careful though), there's a plastic spacer there that takes up the space of 1 round. Who know if it was done for a certain market, or done to get higher spring pressure?

I have a newer 24" JW15 and like it a lot. However, the magazines are very rough inside and not built to spec. They need some file work on the inside for the follower to work properly and rounds to feed properly too. A couple I had even had uneven feed lips. Ended up returning a couple of really bad ones.

If you don't enjoy trying to make the things work, CZ452-455-457 mags work perfectly. Everytime.
What's the accuracy like on the long barrel JW15? I've got another 13" coming but I'm intrigued by the JW15 too. Tenda had them for $231 yesterday.

Arcosdad: I started a thread with a short review of the 24" barrel JW15 here in the rimfire section. I find it's pretty good. I shot some 5-round groups at 100m, got two 1 5/8" groups and none larger than 2" ( I think that was with SK Std+). I have shot several 1/2" 5-shot groups at 50 as well. So there's some promise there.

It's a shame they don't make one with a 16.5" to 18" heavy barrel with attention to bore quality. If they could keep it under $350 or so, they'd probably sell plenty of them.

Nice to see these back, Had one for well over a decade, Probably 15 years or so, Its sported about 4-5 different stocks in its time, Trigger is so light I almost don't like it for shooting gophers.

cZ 452 stock? How much fitting required?

I bought one of those semi auto JW-14’s for my son years ago. I think they were 169 at the time? Anyway that thing is incredibly accurate and absolutely reliable. I have been super impressed with it. Action and trigger are rough but it just works.

Bought some rings and a cheap used bushnell elite. At this point the rings and scope cost as much as the rifle did.
What height rings did you use?

I cannot rmemebr if I posted it before, but theere is a scorpion 4x fixed scope that comes with dovetail rings tha fits pretty perfectly. i can post a pic of mine if you want to see

Has anyone had any issues with their Hiker? I received mine, gave it a clean and oil, took it out but when I pull the trigger the pin drops but doesn't fire a round. The rounds aren't dented at all. I'm not sure what the issue is or if I'm missing something obvious. Tried 3 types of ammo to rule that out, nothing is firing, or dented. If anyone is able to post a picture of the tip of their firing pin I would be most appreciative.

This is just a file shot I pull off of Google. It's been a while since I had one of these but from memory it looks about right. Have you taken the bolt apart? If no, tear it down, clean everything up, check for obstruction and check firing pin protrusion. It should measure a minimum of around .025" and more ideally in the ballpark of.035". If you need step by step disassembly instructions, find a video of the Brno or cz 452 bolt disassembly.

Thanks for your reply. I did give the bolt a proper clean, but will measure protrusion and see if that is an issue.
You're welcome. Let us know if you find anything. Get a flashlight and shine it down the back end of the bolt. Make sure there isn't any hardened cosmo down there that could be restricting the firing pin
