Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

So I finally tested mine. Its bone stock... for now !

Here the results, good and bad, 5 shot groups at 50y.

My NS like to shoot dirty, and it also like the expensive stuff, those god dammit Eley's are too good...

Hard to see on the pic but 4 shots are in the black circle and the other one is a flyer.

Its a nice little rifle, but IMO not worth buying another stock. If you throw 200$ for a stock on a 250$ rifle, you are almost at a CZ level, which is not way more accurate but its a much more overall quality rimfire rifle.

I really liked this thread from beginning, I really like the *Budget Build* theme for this rifle.

As much I as love this NS522, I really hate the stock. I decided to modify the factory stck like you guys did.
Here is some pics of the beginning...

Old Lee Enfield Sporter forend wood donor...

Today I sanded the buttstock into rough shape and applied some good old Bundo. Tomorrow, I will sand it and take more pics...

Work in progress... next step will be to pillar bed the action.

What do you think of my stock, does it look like crap ?

Just a bit of primer to see the flaws and there is a couples.

Quick look with the action in it, feel much better right now.

Before

Trying to achieve 1MOA at 50 yards. But I think the follows are the best groups I can get. The circle is 1 inch diameter.
Pillared, free floated and glued action ( failed glass bedding :) ) and trigger spring replaced with scarry light pull.
6-24X40 Tasco scope with varmint reticle.

If anyone can prove NS522 can achieve 1 MOA consistently, I would consider buying a new one and working on it once more. :) -_-;;

It can but you must find the right ammo...

I had a CIL 190 ( Anschutz 64 action ) and a Savage Mark2 TR and the NS shoots as good as the other 2.

Nice job Ben, keep up the work!

I haven't touched mine since I moved (first house, lots to do...) Will come back with the finished product eventually.

I keep an eye to see all the members doing some nice work tho!

Thank you... I'm following your good work too and would like to see some updates here... And from Father too !

Will have updates on my work this weekend. It is now pillar and glass bedded.

Finally haven't that much time to spend on this...

Trigger guard is fully molded/bedded in the stock.

Action is bedded too but I did not unmold it yet. It may need more Devcon in few spots.

I also did this :

1/4-20 thread on bolt handle. Will re-blue the handle and knob.
Don't know if I will keep this knob or make another one.

I'm getting some pretty consistent accuracy with SK Rifle Match

Norinco NS522 build: NEW TRIGGER UPDATE!!!

Well, headed out to the range today. Kept chasing my zero an realized that my scope rings were sliding forward on the action. Cranked them down to the highest torq I could manage with the driver. Started banging off rounds of Eley Team, and guess what? It started to slide forward on the action again.

Tried two more times. Same thing. Now, these are cheap 3/8ths dovetail rings(30mm). And I mean CHEAP!

So CGN, what 30mm rings should I replace these pellet gun cheapos with?

Would love something that adheres to the action using hex or torx bit. What options do I have(considering this is a budget build, so reasonable price compared to the gun).

You can dill and hammer a stop pin in the receiver....the front ring will sit against it and prevent movement.....or
Try a dovetail to weaver adapter and then some decent weaver rings....

Get a decent scope for a rimfire....not that the 10x Elite is bad or anything, but it will have a 100 yard paralax setting for centerfire rifles, at 50m that will be enough paralax to play tricks with your mind all day. You want an adjustable objective....lots of options out there.

I ended up with pretty good rings for not much money from Amazon.ca. Embarrassing, but worked for me. I think they were airgun rings, actually.

Just got mine the other day put up a video with some results with just some of the ammo I had laying around. I'm pretty impressed as a guy that doesn't really shoot .22LR or shoot percision rifles that much. I'm gonna be practicing with it a lot more to try to improve

Bedding is done. Still need to file a channel for the bolt handle.

Now I don't know what I will use as a buttplate/buttpad and I'm still not sure which color I will paint the stock. Ideas ?
I'm hesitating between textured black or glossy metallic blue or red... maybe TRG green...

At this point the stock only need few touchups with bondo and final sanding and its ready for paint.

Has anyone compared a Zastava Z5 mag to one of these mags? They are pretty squared up and may fit with some tweaking?

Can someone please tell me what the trigger spring father used was from? I never received my spring and my rifle has been sitting here in pieces waiting for many months.

You could try the safety pin trigger mod. Look 2 or 3 pages back in this thread for pictures. Cheap and easy to do.

Did mine with a medium steel safety pin Just cut it longer than you think you need and try it for fit. Shorten if needed. Was a quick way to get it down to 2 lbs and passes the bump and bang test.
