Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

I might have to do some of this stuff with mine once I get around to putting a scope on it. Although the trigger feels pretty good already. I might have a go at making a new stock too, I'm not sure how I feel about the one it comes with.

Seeing as these are based off the Annie 54 action, what do you figure the chances of dropping a 5109 trigger group would be. Looking at your pictures it looks pretty close. Could be some incredible value if you could pick up a $250.00 rifle and be able to drop a true Anscutz 2 stage into it!

Yah thanks for the right up. I am not really knowledgable enough to want to try this stuff my self so seeing as your on the island too maybe before the summer I will pay you (in beers) to do a bedding and trigger job on mine.

My trigger needs work. I am planning on taking it apart and polishing.

BUT, I do happen to have a spare Anschutz trigger somewhere. I will see if I can find it. yes, it would be sweet if it fits (but it probably cost more than this rifle!)

It would definitely be worth more than the rifle. But if the rifle itself is decently accurate, the trigger will only make it that much better! I would love to know it if works, let us know!

Did you say beer???

Part 3, Mr. And Mrs. bolt.

So, I do apologize to all for the delay in posting stage 3, but duty calls.
I have made a reference to a Mr and Mrs bolt.
This will make sense later with some pics for a visual aid.
Now, I did not go into any great detail about how I smoothed up the bolt. I chose not to as I feel that the single most important thing I have done to this rifle to improve its smoothness has to do with the happily married bolt couple. First, some pics-
The bolt:

Bolt face, extractor, ejector.

Trick firing pin:

Bolt handle:

Complete bolt and a Barlow for size reference.

I should add that the bolt breaks down sans any tools. You just slide a wee plunger to the side and twist and the entire bolt breaks down. Very nice. So, there is a marriage between the forward bolt head and the bolt guide/ feed ramp. This was a serious smoothness feeding issue in my rifle. The rifle did feed, but with the smoothness of, well, a Norinco. I had to spend some time de burring and taking the serious edge off of the bottom of the bolt and the bolt guide. I mean, some serious time. You can see the rough surface of the surface of the bolt guide in the pic.
Mrs. Bolt guides location:

Here is the bolt lower (Mr) and the guide (Mrs) outside of the rifle:

I didnt realize until after, but my bolt had two huge burs that were catching on the inner walls of the receiver. This was leaving huge scratches and were the biggest reason for the "Norinco" feel. I reduced those points and polished them smooth up to 1000 grit and now it is CZ smooth. Really.
My good old Barlow pointing out the culprit:

I also have a very cool trigger update pending. An amazing fellow nutter' mailed me ( on his own dime) some readily available springs to try for the trigger. I have to ask his permission first if he is OK with recognizing his generosity publicly, but he is the cats a@s in my eyes for helping out.

These springs change things, so I will post an update with my findings. I am pleased so far and initial tests put it less than a pound. Yes, I said less than a pound.

Watching for more info on this too.

In my 'stuff' is also a Annie Trigger that I picked up at a gun show a long time back, unidentified at the time, but for $10, I was willing to risk it.
edit: appears to be a 1411-U2 or similar, supposed to fit a 54 action up to the 1980's. Wonder if it will fit?

Might finally have a place to hang it! Well, if I buy another gun, anyways. Who woulda thunkit? A reason to buy another gun to play with!:)

Cheers
Trev

Fiochhi SV, Blaser (not bulk pack), Federal match bulk pack.

I should add that since pillar bedding it the Blaser has got edged out by the Federal match bulk.

Father, what do you use to free float the barrel, I mean, remove the appropriate amount of wood from the stock inlet?
I saw gunsmith use a special inletting tool to do the job, but I could not find it in stores. Is sanding paper good to do the trick?

Different Sockets and various grits of sandpaper work perfectly and that is what I use, BUT.. I was pillar bedding mine , so the I normaly use the oppurtunity to set the barrlel gap to my liking first. I normaly dont really need to remove any wood really , as the pillars free float.
