Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

I did not measure them, but theoretically they should be the same length, or the receiver won't be parallel to the trigger guard part.
By the way, what is the difference between center fire and rimfire rifle scopes? I am using center fire rifle scope on my ns522, is it necessary for me to get a rimfire rifle scope for it?
Thanks

A centre fires scope with fixed parallax iss et to about 125 yards. A shotgun scope is set to about 50 yards. I assume a 22 scope is set closer.

I use only centre fire scopes on my 22s. Seem to work fine.

I use whatever scope I like. Most are centerfire scopes and have no issues shooting nice groups at 20-50 yards as well as out farther. Rimfire scopes are set for 50 yard parallax.

From what little I know about scopes...its my understanding that a centre fire scope with a parallax setting of 100yrds is doable at close range (25yrds) provided the rig is stationary and you look "straight" thru the scope with your head in the same position with each shot. Move your head slightly and your cross-hairs move affecting POI.
This won't happen(or be as noticeable) with a scope with parallax set at 50yrds which usually is what rimfire scopes are set for.
Again, this is my understanding and I've been wrong before(my wife would attest to that).

PART 4: Mag issues.

OK, so this is not the original part 4, but a recent discovery prompted this rewrite. I have put well over 3000 rounds through my 522 and have been shooting it through the various stages of this "build". One of the things that I had mentioned as being the most beneficial to feeding of ammo was the relationship of Mr./Mrs. bolt. Well, during a recent shooting session I made a discovery.

One of my mags started acting up and losing spring tension, so rounds were not being cycled up into the action. After a few jams I decided to take a look. It turned out that small lead shavings had fallen down into the mag and had built up quite a thick goo when mixed with the old factory lube that was still in there. I disassembled both mags on the bench and cleared the issue. There was LOADS of crap in there. Now, due to how scarce these mags are I feel that a thorough cleaning and lube is required. This is the main reason for this edited addition to this thread. THESE MAGS ARE LIKE UNICORNS!! - Take the time to check yours!
I snapped some pics when I got home to show you how easily the mags field strip. I used a scrap 1/8 piece of brass stock as a punch, so as not to mar the mags floor plate.
Mag:

Brass pointer indicating plunger. Depress and move it out of the way, so that floorplate slides off of mag body.

Completely stripped:

Stock 522, no mods yet, just doing an ammo test. 50 yds, 2 5 rd groups, haven't measured them yet. Had to quit when we started shivering, it wasn't helping. Some personal bests, especially #7 with the Ely practice. Never had that good a group before. They all have 5 shots, honest! A Mueller AVP scope, love the thing. Sometimes have to rezero at the start, might have to do with dropping it on the floor one time? Using the 2 magazines, could I get different results from different magazines? I seem to have quite a variation between each 5 shot group, using the same ammo. Might just be me as well. Love this gun, even with it's flaws.

It did the same the time before and I didn't believe it then, either. CCI green tag was good the other time as well, and terrible in my brothers gun. Fussy things, these 22's.

Keep the target pics coming. I want to see how other rifles are shooting with different ammo. I can't get any target ammo locally so its all mailorder. Would love to find something cheap that this shoots well.

Actually,

I shot my first ever rimfire Silhouette match with mine today using the Federal.

I was very surprised (and encouraged) to see a top ranked shooter using none other than a EM-322 as his rig. VERY COOL.

Have you done and de-burring/polishing?

I had to pound one out with a cleaning rod and hammer, does that count? Didn't chamber nicely, then didn't fire, and when I used the cleaning rod to try and force it out the cleaning rod snapped, I ended up hitting what was left with a hammer to get it out. Treated it like an SKS, lol. My only problems have been with CCI standard velocity, are they a touch bigger or something? The Lapua and Ely chambered really nicely in comparison. The few Green Tag I had left to try were fine, just seemed to be the SV?
