Not the best experience (Resolved)

Lies on the internet now that is revealing, buyer beware lots of dishonest out there

Who said anything "lies" and "dishonest[y]"...?

Perhaps you should read the OP a little more carefully. The guy is complaining because he wanted a Remington price for a Mossberg product.

I would suggest that if $20 is enough to send someone running to the internet to type a lengthy "rant", then perhaps they should consider a hobby other than firearms... something more within their budget constraints.

Nothing to see here.

/end thead.

I would hope a professional business would have correct pricing for their online store. Just screams of poor management

According to the OP, the product listed was a Remington, "both in the photo and description". He wanted an more expensive Mossberg and is obviously quite upset because he couldn't talk the business into selling their inventory at a loss.

Agreed. I can understand OP perhaps being disappointed that the price wasn't the same, but nothing beyond that is reasonable to complain about. He found a price for one model of stock (which wasn't the one he wanted), and then found out that the price for the stock he wanted (which is a different product) is higher. Nothing to complain about here.

EDIT: See my post down two from here.

The problem is that if the item heading says "Mossberg $134.99" and then when you click into the item, the picture is Remington and the text talks about Remington, there is clearly some confusion. The OP did the right thing by clarifying with the retailer.

Retailers have a responsibility to post items honestly and fairly. And eat the loss if they don't update their pricing online.

Interestingly, Magpul lists the Rem 870 and Mossberg 500/590 stocks at the same price, so presumably invoice price to the dealers is the same.

Ah yes, if that's the case (and it looks to be so) then that changes the water on the beans. Does look to be a bit of a website frig up.

I am with the OP on this one. Lots of on-line retailers have "placeholder" pics of items so you really have no idea of exactly what you are getting, you just have to hope it is correctly listed. My take is that the store must be doing very well indeed to lose a customer over 15%, $20 on such a small item, because personally I would never, ever shop with them again. Their response SHOULD have been, "Certainly we will honour that price for you sir, and thank you for shopping with us! We will get that price/description/title fixed as soon as we can and thank you for asking about it." They could have quickly gone into the database and corrected it after that.

So it appears I opened quite the can of worms here, which was not overly my intention.

It's interesting I have posted so many positive reviews for companies and they all have no replies. I guess no controversy with good service.

Lots of good points on both sides, and I think it's great as s community we can have a civil discussion about what we look for in firearm businesses in Canada and what we should expect.

I would like to just make a rebuttal to some comments. The biggest complaint against me I see is "Well it is $20, get s new hobby".

In this case $20 is a 13% markup. So to some that's nothing sure. But when you say "it's only $20" that point exists for me and also for the company is it not? I could turn around and say well they have a pretty big mistake on their website which quotes an incorrect price, and it's only a $20 difference. Why not honor the posted price, since as everyone says "it's only $20". Hardly anything for a business.

At any rate I think it's great we can have a positive discussion about this. Lots of great replies, makes me really consider multiple angles thank you.

I love how people jump all over someone else that bothers to make a post about a bad experience. Dollar value is irrelevant. The fact he took the time to state his experience in the proper forum should be appreciated and not attacked. Thanks for your post!

No doubt! Dollar value is mostly irrelevant. If a store had a $1000 gun on their website for $10.00, I'd absolutely expect them to NOT sell me the firearm at that price, as it is an obvious error. Something like 15% on a cheap item, the store should have said something along the lines of what is said below and sucked up the difference. Thanks OP for posting your experience without raging about it. After reading this thread, and a couple others, WildWest likely won't ever see a nickel from me. See how "word of mouth" works in both a positive and negative manner? Had the OP been posting a positive experience we'd take something very different away from this thread, and it would have only cost WildWest $20 for the positive feedback and advertising. Instead they lost an immediate sale, and possibly many future sales.

Before I get into my little rant here I just want to say whoever I spoke with on the phone was very polite, very friendly and I in no way am annoyed or dismayed at that individual.

Browsed your website with the shipping promo interested in throwing my business your way. Looking at picking up a Magpul SGA stock for the Mossberg 500/590. Check it out on your website, price listed as $134.99. Great price! Can add it to my cart and everything to check tax, great.

But there is a problem, the picture is for a Rem 870 and so is the description. So I decide to call just to confirm that what I am about to order is in fact for the Mossberg. Once again spoke with a very polite and friendly employee on the phone.

She was helpful and found the stock for me, but guess what it is $155.99, pretty significant difference. To add to it your manager will not honor the website price which seems pulled from no where.

Every company prices Mossberg and Rem 870 SGA stocks roughly the same so unless they are last year model no idea where that price difference is coming from.

So to say in the least I am annoyed. Incorrect website price. Incorrect website description. Topped off with a manager without a customer first mentality. I shutter to think what I would have ended up with if I actually placed my order as the system puts me all the way to the final processing point and quotes me that price.

Unlikely to do business with ever.

PS: Representative on the phone you were very helpful, thank you.

Jeff,

I apologize for the incorrect pricing. Unfortunately the price is effected by when we purchase the product. My employee should have contacted me
about the issue regarding the website price. We were actually out of stock on that item but it looks like those stocks just landed
in our store yesterday evening. Due to the incorrect pricing and inconvenience I will be able to honor our mistake made and give you the stock
for $134.95. Please email me at travis@shootingcentre.com. Hopefully we can make your experience enjoyable and earn your trust again!

P.S. Free shipping right now so even more savings to be had! Look forward to doing some business :)

Section 74.05 of the Competition Act prohibits the sale or rent of a product at a price higher than its advertised price, unless its a mistake and quickly changed. The $20 buck may be irrelevant but the law is the law, they shouldn't be advertising false prices.
