OFFICIAL: Norinco Type 97 Pre-Sale!!!

OK.

I have been monitoring this forum for a few days and this is the first opportunity I've had to post as It has been a busy week.

Let's set the record straight regarding the T97NSR, I wanted the be the first to post about it, but some excited dealers beat me to it.

For well over a year now, North Sylva has been working very hard with Chinese State Arsenals to redesign the receiver on the original T97A rifle. A few prototypes were created, and after a few tries, it seemed we finally got it right.

This newly made firearm will be know as the T97NSR. It is important to note that this is NOT a T97A. It has been completely redesigned from the ground up. We are currently in the process of finalizing on the FRT number and the new sample should be approved shortly. If everything goes according to plan, these should be in stores hopefully by early spring.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Has it changed since yesterday?

I think everyone needs to back up a bit . I like putting my money where my mouth is . So 250 I spent . It seems like there were under the understanding that there was a frt . N.S said there wasn't one yet after other dealers jumped on pre selling . Who cares . Either put your money down or don't .

I agree totally. Plus, Wanstall's also said the deposits are refundable in the first post, so, you either pony up and get your money back if it doesn't fly--or you miss out.

Yeah, my money is down, but FRT # means this summer, no FRT # means indefinate period of time, if ever. Why would I have someone sit on my money for any period of time, without assurances? If Wanstalls says there is an approved FRT#, then, I suppose that must be true. Someone contact North Sylva and give them the good news.

the picture is QBZ-95, 5.8mm, only for Chinese military. and it is being taken over by QBZ-95-1, much improved from QBZ-95. Your official website shows a QBZ-95-1. What a mess!

There's no FRT number for the T97NSR. I'm sure there's an application in, and maybe they've even assigned it a number pending acceptance - but as it now stands (and as CanadaAmmo has indicated) - the approval process is still incomplete. This also isn't to say that we won't see them by next April, but just keep in-mind that stranger things have happened. ;)

Oh, and the Type 97 and Type 97A are both prohibited still.

For the question of optics:

I think the way it mounts really really sucks. Perfect position for a head shot.

For the questions of left hand, based on what i researched:
1 yes you could. some chinese army units require their members operating the rifle on both hands. with left hands, you essentially "move" your head as backward as possible, to "avoid" the ejected shells. ( sorry for the poor translation, I dunno their meaning as well. it is what they say.)

2 someone turns the gun 90 degrees horizontally.... but i really doubt the result. source: a video I watched recording joint drills of China-Pakistan speical forces.

3. Chinese Army "asks" all member to operate their firearms on right hands, and they design everything based on right-hand habit BEFORE 1990's. With the new generation of issued rifles, type 03, it is rumored that the eject could be found on both sides.

Let me know if you guys wanna know more.

Wanstalls had the wrong pic. Check their thread here on CGN. They corrected their pic on post 36 of their thread.

Just to confirm for everybody. There is an open APPROVED FRT number for the Type 97NSR. The FRT is not officially released to the public based on CFC seeing the actual rifle but we expect an official announcement as early as the January. We are not concerned..

I thank you for bring in these rifles. I can`t wait to get mine. I was wondering if you know if there are any aftermarket accessories available. Handgaurds, scope mounts and such. One other thing I was wondering is, if there rifles you are bring in for us has the vertical grip in front of the trigger gaurd.

Hi Wanstalls, are these type 97s still "officially approved for April Delivery 2013"?
