OH BABY! 12.5" Rem 870 barrel arrived from Dlask today!

These first barrels were supposed to have been stamped. The next ones will be deep engraved with our logo. Barrel length is irrelevant. The registration will only say less than 470mm anyway. Once we're set up for CNC engraving, they'll look great. No one makes SG barrels as thick at the muzzel as ours, so they're unmistakable, the firearms guys know we make them, but nevertheless they should be done right.

thats awesome to know, when do you expect the next batch to be done and are you taking deposits ?? I want one of each, 14" and a 12.5"

Maybe they do, but the cop on the street doesn't and he's the guy you'll meet first.
Engraving the length on the barrel just makes things simpler if you are stopped.

OK, I ask again .............. Aside from mall ninja costuming and kewl pics, what are these barrels used for?

SC...............................

The police use them for breaching (shooting locks on doors). They are more handy then a 20inch barrel for raiding suspects. I would use a 14" barrel if I wanted to decrease the overall length of my shotgun for portablility but I still wanted a regular butt stock. A little lighter and a little shorter then 18 1/2" so if it's for defense and not hunting I think this makes sense.

For my use as a field oriented fish biologist who works and plays in some of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears around (as well as black bears and cougars too) I like the idea of a small compact FULL STOCK shotgun that can be carried in the field when using other equipment. Although it may not seem like it would be a big difference, the shorter barrels are a lot more compact than the 20" ones.

Also when I am with my family taking the dogs on one of the logging roads the shorter tube fits better on the (offroad) baby pram. ;)

Cheers

Fireballs, big honking fireballs in the daylight.

The guy with the biggest the fireball takes home all the chicks. I see it happen all the time.

Example: A Remington Model 870 pump-action shotgun that has been fitted with a Scattergun Technologies 12"/305mm barrel and a Pachmayr pistol grip is less than 26"/660mm in overall length, but is NOT "prohibited." It is a "prohibited firearm" if this was done to a Remington 870 that left the factory with those parts, but it is non-restricted if it was re-manufactured and left the Scattergun Technologies factory with them. It doesn't HAVE to make sense -- it's GOVERNMENT POLICY

this is non-restricted ??

Right now there are only three in circulation unmarked. I have been in contact with both owners. They will be stamped with all info. As far as deposits, I'm not accepting them. These things are going to take a while to make by hand until I get the CNCing worked out. Probably arrange something next week. The drawings need to be made, and the materials need to be hardened. In the meantime I'll machine them myself. The last thing I want is to sit on someones money for a month. I have appx ten more barrels to make in 12.5" and around half dozen in 14". I need to fill these orders before I even think about deposits. When I get caught up, I'll take them then. Less than 660mm is resticted. Cutting is prohib.

hey Sxyflock:
did you find the thread for all of the parts on your 870? How much is the 12.5 barrle worth ?

I gave my first born child for the Brobee 870 to AR15 stock adapter.
The AR15 stock is a rock river arms 6 pos ($125), and the AR pistol grip is a Fobus/First Samco G27 grip ($35). The front pistol grip ($35), 6rd side saddle ($39), mag extention ($65) and Barrel Shroud/Heat Shield ($30) are TacStar.
The flashlight was bought off SubZero on gunnutz (Nuwai Q3- 3 Watt Luxeon LED Flashlight $45), and mounts with some shaved 1" rings to the left side of the barrel/mag extention clamp. The laser was custom manufactured by www.z-bolt.com and is a 22mw green unit with a custom mount to the barrel/mag clamp ($135 for the laser, $50 for the mount).
The 870 top rail was installed by Williams Arms. Cost $60 including drill/tap and install if I remember correctly. The shortie 12.5" barrel from Dlask was $299, the 32" super long barrel I picked up for $50 at a gun show (unfired)...

Now THAT is the whole idea :D .... after that it's one of Jacxysidheyx's Aimpoint replica's and we'll see how it holds up.
