CQB Match #1 - After action report

Hey guys and gals.

The ORA completed Match #1 of the CQB season today under pretty darn fine weather conditions at Langemark Range, CFB Borden. A sprinkle of rain at the start of the match proper and then warm sunny skies.

We had a total of 45 participants today for the first match of season with a mix of veterans and newbies alike. We were even able to convince Hungry to shoot with us which always adds to the fun.

Tim K has instituted a new organizational system that will allow us to efficiently run events with more participants. Due to demand we have to find ways to successfully grow and today was good test/demonstration of that new system.

A big thanks to all of the ORA Service Committee who shouldered a big part of the load today, particularly Dave for ARO duties, and JayT who was our special guest ARO today.

The same goes to all the participants who made the match efficient, a lot of fun and we more than willing to pitch-in and help with set up and tear down. Super big thanks to Plink and Maritimer for handling stats and of course Tim K who does more than we really know to make these events happen.

For all participants and spectators:
Please post your pictures, videos, questions and comments below. We have some (potentially) tremendously interesting video to come from Ganderite after today's match....assuming the camera survived :D

Spectators - did ya get the itch to get in on this and have a blast with us?:ar15:

Note: I LOVE my muzzle brake....except during modified prone TWK. The sand at Langemark tastes pretty much like you would expect.

I have a couple of plans up my sleeve though. Bwahahahaha

I would like to formally apogize to Ganderite for shooting his camera. I needs me some practice! I want to thank Bolivar for helping me sight in this morning and Boltgun for giving me some valuable pointers in the art of the pistol. I must say that this beats the pants off of shooting at the "static" range :D Hopefully I get in for the May match... With better aim.

I saw those cameras set up by the target and I pulled a twonnie out of my pocket and said to JRW (QOR)... I bet you 2 bucks one of those cameras doesn't survive the match..

He wouldn't take the bet.. :D :D Sure enough, next relay... LMAO.. I laughed so hard.

And that other camera... SOMEONE (who shall remain nameless) was making sure it got a good coating of patching on the back of it with every target change.. hillarious!! :D :D

Poor Ganderite, I don't think he was impressed.. :cool:D

Had a great time, but had some serious ammo issues which will be rectified for the next match.. Seeya all then!! :)

Oh, by the way, thanks to Valmet762 for helping me with the stats today! Good job..

OH.. I wanted some of my brass back!!! LOL Didn't get a single case.. :(

Thanks for the great time guys. Had the pleasure of meeting some more great folks, Boltgun, Blondie, and seeing old hands too. If the shooting was not enough of a reason to come out, the guys we get to shoot with should be.

Boltgun, if you are ever out my way, feel free to drop in and we will slip over and make some holes at the local(ish) range. Always great to get out and see how great shooters make it happen. Might even be able to find some fresh cut round steak to chew on.

Cheers Guys, see you next shoot.

:rockOn:Awesome, Tim FU held back the real rain.
Great Job everyone.
That being said, PMAGs just couldn't handle the awesomeness of Muilticam, and failed accordingly, had feeding issues on Bay 9. There was just too much awesomesauce in one bay for the mags to handle it, with not only Multicam but plates too.:runaway:
Hats of to Ganderite for being so kind as to donating prizes and Brian B for being a good sport and passing his on. Thk
Crap day of shooting for me, some great people as always.
See ya next CQB.

It is with great regret I acknowledge the first fatality on our CQB range. I will miss Nikon…

My wife will, too. It was her camera.

The entry hole is only 9mm.

But the exit hole is 50 cal.

My shooting sucked. Just as well camera did not work. many thanks to the two kids who did so much to help with the target patching.

Alas, although the memory card looked ok, it has a bend in it and will not download.
I got no videos. But I was able to take a few snapshots.

I ended up with a bit more than I came with. I'll spit it with you. You can take all the steel cased. LOL.

Seriously, I'll split my brass if you would like. It's not fair that you missed out cause you were too busy with stats. Are you at the clinic next weekend?

Oh and seriously, I ended up with as much steel cased as brass. LOL.

Thanks bud. I'll be OK, I just have to get someone on my relay to pull some out for me next time when I'm doing stats I guess.

All that nice IVI brass I so lovingly prepped.. gone... :( LOL :D

I can't go to the clinic next weekend either unfortunately :(

Let's put that into perspective for those who were not there and don't know what the target looks like. The camera was about a FOOT to the left of the Figure 11 target. So with about a foot from the side of the target to the #5 bull.

So that means you shot about TWO FEET! off target Laugh2

Plink suggested we start a bet as to if it would be hit. I suggested we start a pool as to WHEN it would be hit.
