Received the license card yesterday in the mail:D
It took 40 days.
What's the next step then, join a club and get a gun?

-btw, for people living in Canada for less than 5 years, PR card is as good as letter of good conduct issued by the local or state police of your previous country of residence.

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct translation of this statement:

"your application had no errors in it. Due to the 28 day waiting period it is now sitting under a heap of papers. If you are "lucky" we will process it after the 28th day. That is if we can find it by that time"

Got to love the waiting game. I applied for PAL/RPAL so I'm sure I'll be getting a call.

Good to know. One of my references got a call today. He said that interview was strange but it worked out. Instead of, "has klogdog ever expressed a desire to harm someone" it was "describe a time when klogdog said he wanted to harm someone" guilty until proven innocent I guess!

They received my application on October 7 and called me and my refernces on 9th. I don't know why it was so fast. Maybe because I had passed my exams in July which means I had already cooled down for 3 months.

I beleieve that they hired more people to process the data in Septemeber and we are now seeing PAL/RPALS at 29 days.. Applications received in late June or in the month of July took in the order of 45 -50 days. They told me when I phoned that they were back logged and where hiring more people. Minor licenses for my sons took 63 days. My PAL/RPAL took something like 55 days.

Just for reference:

I needed a new Birth Certificate:

Time from filling in form online to Certificate in hand : 3.5 calendar days. (fee $27)

Enhanced Drivers License: from booked appointment to in hand: 8 days.

CANADIAN Passport ( no passport for over 12 years with no previous Passport on record in their computer): Went in late Friday afternoon, will be ready for pick-up Wednesday morning. Total time: 5 calendar days (over a three day long weekend). I paid the extra $30 for fast issue.

I think there was a fair bit of #####ing going on in the summer (I know I did my part - including a letter to my MP) that things seem to have sped up. Go back in this thread and you will see that there was wait times well over 45 days. I sure hope this 29 day thing stays the norm.

Usually if your application is missing something, they would inform you right away in the mail.

Not true. In my case it took them about a week just to cut the letter and then another week for it to arrive in the mail. Luckily I had contacted them by phone and knew of the problem within 3 days of the problem occurring and sent off new paperwork a full 10 days before the letter arrived informing me there was a problem.

Hey my statis for RPAL from the CFC site. APPROVED
Checked it on Friday Oct 10 and it was still in process. Checked it today Oct 12 not sure why being a holiday and all but its done. They received/signed for it Sept 11. Called references and me a week later. Never called my wife. So 28 days to be approved and now just waiting for snail mail. For the record I had my old FAC that had expired cause I lived in the states for a while.
