PAL "in progress"

28 days exactly. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet! No mistakes on app helped out. I was a little worried about my very unprofessionally done photo ( I took my own picture) But ya... can't wait for my RPAL to be here!

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Man, took me around 45 days from start to finish. I started the courses in April... I'm weeks away from my ATT now. damn, I waited so long, I don't even feel excited any more. I can even go to range to shoot my shotgun but I'm just going to wait for ATT so I can take my handguns too. And I only live 15 mins away from range. LOL!

Having only fired 5rds with a shotgun in my life, me thinks I can only fire 50 shots before I call it quits with my shotgun. I only fired 5rds in the bush and damn it has some kick. Since I'm a noob, I think 50rds would guarantee a sore shoulder.

Ok, here goes,

Aug. 9th - took the PAL/RPAL course

Waited around for people to come back from vacation because I wanted them to be references cause they are home all day to answer the phone.

Sept. 21st - Application sent Registered (with tracking. $8.00! and tracking data didn't show up on Canada Post website until 3days later!)

Sept. 25th - Application Received

Oct. 7th - I get the call. And interview. Nice rough voiced lady.

Oct 14th = I call THEM and ask for status. They said they called me, but couldn't get ahold of my References. Tell me to ask my references to call them.

Oct 15th - My References call them.

Oct. 23rd - Application process complete License issued.

Oct 30th - hoping to hell that it's in my hot little hands when the mail comes this morning.

A word of warning for those out there that haven't or just sent their application in.
If your references have call display and don't like to answer the phone when they don't know the name or number, then they'll have to call the RCMP to do the interview.

TELL THEM TO ANSWER EVERY CALL. Mine didn't.

The interviewers call display data came up on my phone as UNAVAILABLE, PRIVATE.

Just a thought.

So, from date of receipt until it showed up as issued on the website, 28 days.
And I wait.
And wonder what club to join.
Anybody ever recently purchased a handgun 'intending to join a certain club' actually receive the handgun before they actually joined said club?
At least I can buy a shotgun and an sks and not wait too long when my license comes in.

It was very fast (4 weeks) for me. All my references just happen to be home, and they did the phone interview with me. I wonder if it causes delays, people not available.

Well, there would certainly be the delay from the time they tried to call the references until the references called them. That was my case.

I don't see a reason for it to cause any other delay but I'm not the RCMP either.

In hindsight, I should've gotten these things (gun licenses) a long time ago when I didn't need them. The wait wouldn't have bothered me so much. And I probably could've bought a load of guns without so much scrutiny either.
Maybe I should be applying for a passport I don't need.. or some other thing like that...... hmmmm

Just a quick question... what do they ask during the phone interview... and what do they ask your references... i assume its have you been a good boy or girl... i hate waiting... its no fun...

Ahhhh ... what a beautiful sight. :) Application approved.

I called the CFO (for Alberta) and asked him to approve it yesterday and he did.

Like many others have said, give the CFO a call if you have been waiting for a while.

Application Received on: 2009/08/25 (68 days for R-Pal)

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre

Tried to call him today, but got an answering machine stating that the office is closed while they try to sort out the backlog.

(though my kid always says that patience are for doctors)

I hope you get it soon.

As for me, my card showed up today. Woooooo-freakin'-whooooo

Time to load up and get some trigger time. :)

My PAL application took a week to get there, 28 days to process, and six business days to arrive. It came yesterday, and Im happier then a pig in s#it!

I sent my PAL/RPAL out on Oct 19, rec'd it on Oct 22.

I just checked online, License issued and in the mail!

EXACTLY 28 days since receipt to issue!

They even had issues contacting my references and had to send letters out, but I cleared that up last week. Can't wait to start shopping.
