PAL "in progress"

Hmm, I guess I just got unlucky both times I called - both times they refused to let me talk to the Alberta CFO. I would have called more but the only chances I got were rain/snow days at my work.

That is a crock, you shouldn't need to jump through hoops to talk to the CFO.
As I recall, one way to go directly to your prov. CFO is to choose option 5 in the menu (which is for ATTs, handled by CFOs exclusively).

They called me and both my references, this is for both R/PAL. I'm in Alberta.

Well, my Current Status is STILL the exact same. I'll have to call them I guess, but really now 223 days = 7 months and 11 days. I also waited about 6 months to send in my papers, so I've been without a license for over a year now since I challenged my R/PAL. I'll call them when I get a chance, and report back (hopefully with good news).

If there is an ombudsman I would call them and explain. Or I would resubmit my application with all the paperwork and photos.

Sounds like one or the other from your app was ''lost''.

Alright, I gave them a call and they made a note of my inquiry and said they'd email the CFO, then transferred me to the AB CFO, and the nice lady told me to give him 2 weeks to review my application, and give him a call. So hopefully that will help a bit! It'd sure be nice to actually punch holes in targets with my own gun, rather than my friends (who make sure to bust my balls about it every. single. time. lol)

Well, I'll be darned!

Son of a B*&%#, I called to do my interview today, it turns out, I had to provide an essay stating why I had a relationship fail on me. Other than checking the box, and giving them my ex.'s contact information, I also had to attach a letter explaining the reasons for the breakup. They told me they are mailing me a form, and that I could not give them details over the phone. F@#$ my life.

Very upset right now.

Cheers,
Sand

Erg. They didn't tell me about the form I needed either. I called to find out what the hold up on my lic was and found out they needed a form filled out.

You CAN fax the form back. Call and get the fax # (or if it's for the CFC its 1-800-411-0622).

I had to have a professional fill out an additional form - I had it within 4 days and she faxed it back. Within the hour mine was approved. So don't despair. :(

Hello,

I applied for my PAL in December, and according to CFC website the application was received on the 19th.

The online status shows that it has completed initial processing and is now "in progress".

My references have not received a call yet, so I gave CFC a call to check the status and was told I'm not in the system yet (however the website says I am).

Day #28 is January 16.

Does it usually take this long for them to contact your references? Should I wait till 28 days has elapsed till I try calling them again?

Thanks,
Anton

I got mine withen a week... I sent it to them next day mail.. called them to say did you get it because I paid for faster shipping.. they like I dont see it in the mail... let me check.. came back yep its on my desk now.. is there any reason why you need it right away? I was like no but I wanted to apply for an armoured car job that they are advertising right now.. I got it in less then a week after they got it.. they called did the checks that same day.. and boom done.. was in the mail and I got it nice and fast..

That sounds like redemption to me! Who are these professionals you speak of? I just had a breakup with a girlfriend, do I really need a lawyer for this? I guess I could fax the form back to the CFC when I receive it...

Should have stayed single, the price we pay for lessons learned :p

Cheers,
Sand

Nope - you shouldn't need anyone but you. I don't know for sure - but I'm guessing.

You can fax the form - which saves several days in the mail and the cost of a stamp....

anybody's licence take longer than two weeks to arrive? my two weeks are up on Monday, i hope today it will be waiting in my mailbox

You should call them.

A week after my status had changed to "...your license has been issued..." I called them. The woman on the phone told me it would be another two to four weeks before it actually arrived. When I got home that day it was in the mailbox.

Well, Application Received June 14,2010 so now the wait begins. How long should I wait before giving them a call to make sure everything is in order and no missing information?

is it "in progress" if so then call and ask to do your interview and get your references to call in after give them your application number... i did this and was approved on the 28th day... now im just waiting for the mail... :( i have a M1 Garand with my name on it waiting!!!

My rpal license has been issued today... awesome!

They started processing on April 30th, but I didn't call them until last week. One of my references talked to them last week and my other one talked to them today. They did not actually call me, they sent me a letter to call them. But after my interview they were pretty fast with calling my references. I def recommend calling them yourself.

My birthday is in 8 days so this will be almost a birthday present.
