PDW builds - Lets see them, and share results

You cant see my finger because of the folding stock so WTF also, critical much...

Take a look at your own photo. You have the trigger finger of your right hand on the trigger.

I am critical of people who slag others and then post photos of themselves doing things that are unsafe.

Actually, what it looks like is that his index finger is resting against the side of the TP9, behind the trigger and under the folding stock (this is just based on what I can observe of the angle of his index finger, and arguably it's very hard to see).

I imagine that one could extend the index finger out alongside the TP9 (under the folding stock), but as there's not a lot of real estate there with the stock folded it would be a lot easier for one's finger to slip into the trigger guard. Just my humble $0.02.

What happened to more photos/less drama...?

And with that, I give you my ultimate PDW. Totally and completely unobtanium. The closest I think I can get is the NEA compact stock with my HK416/POF lower (1.4" more overall length and slightly more weight). I wonder if I can Armacoat the stainless steel guide rod(s) in black...

Photo Permission

Glock-a-maniac,

Is it ok if I use a copy of your photo in the Lightfighter Team Room with the subtitle of "I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am"?

I'm pretty sure all the armchair commandos over there would appreciate seeing how a "real operator" does it.

FYI your right trigger finger is on the trigger, if you enlarge the photo you can clearly see it, and the trigger guard.

Regards.

Mark

Yes, you can see the trigger guard. It could also be resting on the side of the housing right under the folding stock above the trigger (like I mentioned; there is not a lot of real estate there). I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt - but if you guys all insist on having at it merely to score points - please continue... ;)

So, back to PDWs... anyone else got any interesting builds?

Working on it but it wold only be 45 acp. Not ready for pics yet.

This might have been covered before, but the AAC Honey Badger definitely looks interesting, and it uses the 300 BLK round. What do you guys think?

I have already run the SPEX PDW stock with a 7" 300 Whisper upper. It works great and is VERY cool to run.

The nice thing about our stock is that it is very easy to swap out the recoil spring for one of a different weight meaning the stock can be used with all kinds of cartridges and load combinations. It's only limitation is the gun can't be a pistol caliber blow back system.

What about a pistol calibre DI system? Is it possible?

Can you tell us more about the stock? Are there 2 rods on either side and does this interfere with a BAD, etc.? Also, what gets replaced/changed with installation?

Nice... but what's with the XCR? ;) (just kidding) How do you find the AFG on your XCR shorty?
I was skeptical with the AFG at first, but after trying it, it grew on me pretty quickly. I run with the stock fully extended most of the time and being 6'2" my arm doesn't quit lock but still feels pretty solid.

Here is a pic of my options for this rifle. All of the bits and pieces that I have allocated to this build.

If the build is designed as a PDW, with the parts you have shown I would use the following :

-553 with the Matech irons behind
-magpul grip
-Stubby vertical grip or AFG, whichever you prefer
-Surefire Scout
-keep the current stock, CAA is low quality.

Some upgrades I'd suggest:

1. A light mount that offsets the scout, like the S&S or Gear sector one. I think I mine is S&S but I can't seem to find it on their website. This will allow you to get a high grip on either your VFG & tube or the AFG and actuate the tailcap with your thumb. I don't know if you can move the rails around on that tube you have, but with an offset mount you can mount the light on either the 9 or 12 o'clock rail for a right handed shooter.

2. Every rifle needs a sling. VCAS or Vicking tactics slings are great for most applications, however if you are using the weapon in a vehicle then a single point wrapped up with a rubber band is less prone to snagging.

3. A front sight. Whatever you prefer but I like a fixed LMT iron sight.

cheers
