Pistol suitable for small hands.

Norc M93 or S&W 4.5" 422.

Wife shoots weak handed (eye dominance) and has the early stages of hand arthritis (revolvers are out). These are the only two that have worked for her so far.

OK so we went to the gun store today to have her try a few guns on for size. Among those being the Sig Mosquito, Swiss Arms , ISSC M22, Ruger Mark III, a Browning 1911 22 and a whole bunch of others that I can't even remember. Prices ranged from $299.00 new, to $690.00,and somewhere in between for used. At the end of it all she really loved the Browning 22 but at $690.00 plus tax it was a little more than than what we wanted to spend not knowing if this is gonna be a novelty sort of thing for her. She also really liked the trigger and weight of the ISSC M22 and how it fit her hand so in the end she decided to go with that one. We figured that if she continues to enjoy the sport we will trade up to the Browning 22. Thanks for all the suggestions ... Oh and they had a really nice used in new condition Remington R1 45 there as well, so I couldn't help myself.

There are a couple good used brownings on the EE here you know, did you check, I have not handles the M22, should be a good one.
Take a few different types of ammo to the range, some guns like some better than others

Didn't know about the Browning at the time but regardless she's happy with the ISSC for the time being for the reasons previously mentioned and only when the transfer goes through and we get it to the range will we know the final outcome.

Haven't heard much about the M22 Glock style .22lr.... let us know how you both likes it down the road!

You should probably stock up on some CCI Mini Mags to break it in for the first 500 or so rounds....

If you have to shoot min-mags to break in a 22, it is not built right in the first place.

No doubt but some of them aren't.... why not just enjoy a few boxes of mini mags then branch out?

It's a pretty inexpensive gun so a break in period might be predicable.... looking forward to range reports.

I think one of the biggest issues for her is the fact that she finds wrapping her hand around the large grip makes it more difficult to pull the heavy trigger with her arthritis. She seems to think that a smaller grip might remedy that. Not so sure though.

Add the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit into the Ruger MKIII or 22/45 and you can get the trigger crisp at 1lb, her arthritis won't even notice.

+1 for the Beretta 71. I have 2 with restricted barrels and LOVE them. People of smaller stature that have smaller hands are always trying it at the range and asking me where they can get one. It cycles absolutely every brand and type of .22LR ammo (except for the widest mouth hollow points) with no problems.

I have a S & W 422 (not for sale often on EE, but they do come up every month or so). It shoots straight, has a light trigger pull, small grip circumference, and is a really light pistol. I have trained at least 5 kids and 4 small women on it. No complaints about anything. I have continuously owned at least one for 15 years , and after trying every rimfire pistol on the market, it is the one I shoot most. They are really easy to field strip and clean also.

S&W victory is a great gun for smaller hands
Few places have them on 399, (bullseye and alflahartys)and super easy takedown
My daughter (13 yo) can shoot it comfortably

I just bought the Beretta APX and with the small backstrap my GF with super small hands has no problems with it. I really like this APX btw

How small is the "small grip" module for the Sig P320?

I'm considering getting a P320 (have my eye on the RX model) and then buying a smaller grip for when I'm taking other people to the range. I already have a Browning 1911-22 which (as others have said) is great for small hands, but a 9mm in a small grip would be nice to move up to if they decide they want to try a larger caliber.

Finally got around to taking the ISSC M22 to the range to let the better half try it out to see how she liked it. The fit is great and she’s more than happy with the trigger pull. We did have a couple FTF and a couple FTE after shooting about 200 rounds through it. Also the slide would not release after the fact because the little tab that holds the slide back must have gotten bent upwards during one of the jams and would not come down far enough to allow the slide to move forward, but that was toward the end of her shooting session. The only ammo tried was CCI Mini Mag but will try some other brands next time out. Over all she loved the pistol. I think I fixed the bent tab ( next outing will tell the tale ) and I cleaned up the gun for the next go round and also polished the feed ramp so we’ll see how it goes.
