In the spirit of promoting the clays shooting sports we have this great sub-forum but rarely does anyone share much info about their home club. So let's post some pics of our clubs, the logo and maybe a bit about what your has club has for facilities and what kind of organized shoots are held. I'll start the ball rolling. My current home club is The Lloydminster Gun Club. The club was built in 1956 and sits on 10 acres of land on the SK side of Hwy 17, the highway that divides SK and AB six miles south of the city of Lloydminster, Canada's only border city being part of both AB and SK.
It is a shotguns only discipline club consisting of 6 trap fields( 3 in use and 3 spares if needed for larger events) and 1 skeet field. The trap fields utilize wired voice release systems connected to Pat Trap machines all with doubles capability. The skeet field utilizes western skeet machines with a wireless remote controller. The club is open each monday and thursday evening spring through fall until freeze up then is closed for the season.
There is a camping area with electric and water hook ups for two dozen or so camper trailers, motorhomes etc..
For those wishing to pattern their guns there is a two sided pattern board with steel flat on one side that uses a grease roller for covering the steel to see your shot and a wood framed side for stapling cardboard or paper too if you want to bring home your pattern sheets to evaluate. There is a club house that has a full kitchen though the entire clubhouse is getting to the point it needs some tlc and renovations and rarely gets used except at registered events. Their is washrooms with hot running water and flush toilets and an office and classification counter.
Currently the club hosts one organized shoot per year, an ATA registered trap shoot each May over a three day period(Fri/Sat/Sun) with 3-100 target events daily, 100 singles, 100 handicap and 50 pair of doubles enabling shooter to get as many as 900 targets over the course of the three days. The shoot is always the first shoot of the season for SATA's(Saskatchewan Amateur Trap Association) yearly roster.
Club memberships are available at $25 per year per person. Target fees are $5.00 per round to members and $7.50 per round to non-members and we are open to non-members stopping in to shoot without having to be a guest of a member or requiring a membership to shoot for the 2021 season. Members can purchase a $50 pre-paid ten rounds card so for the price of $75 a non-member can basically buy a membership and ten rounds for the price of what just 10 rounds would cost at non-member rates, a win-win in anyone's book.
