I created and ran one of the largest Canadian Tire Pro Shops in Western Canada for close to four years. My dealer was a fellow who liked to go big or go home. He gave me carte blanche to have over 800 firearms and over one million dollars in ammunition on the shelves. We created a 3.2 million dollar a year gun shop. He ended up even richer than he started!
I had to retire in March of last year for medical reasons, and the Cranbrook, BC CT store also changed dealer ownership. Unfortunately, all our hard work is slowly being eroded by poor ownership decisions, and now with no current staff knowledge.
Corporate CT has recently changed the rules in how locally owned stores do business. They no longer allow buying from various venders with the best selection and lower prices. CT Corporate is now forcing dealers to buy from equity, which means in house Corporate venders only. It's not the venders who are gouging the wholesale prices, it's CT Corporate greed. They have increased retail pricing approximately 35%-40% over the last eight months. And even though they still buy at a lower wholesale discount due to volume buying, they increase the inventory cost on paper to make it look like they now pay more for these goods. I'm sure there is a technical term for this Tom-Foolery, but this is now the price you pay at your local CT store.
There are still some dealers who like to circumvent these bull-$hit rules, but they are few and far between.......
This is why one sees absolute ridiculous retail asking prices at CT stores across Canada now.
The Cranbrook CT Pro Shop is now more expensive than our local gun shop who used to gouge the general public for close to 30 years. They had the monopoly on the hunting industry until we opened the Pro Shop. This LGS ended up for sale and almost went out of business. Well apparently it never sold and a younger family member now runs it. It seems to be going fairly well, and the prices are not as bad as the CT Pro Shop.
Interesting how things go full circle when their is a new Sheriff in town, so to speak.....
My point is, although manufactures cost of products has risen, it usually is company greed that causes inflation to the enth degree....
Groceries, gas, rent, mortgage costs are sky-rocketing! And to what point? When only the rich can buy/own a vehicle, or put food on the table?
Well we all know now what the dictator meant by stating, "you will own nothing and be happy". Most folks do not understand that this was the plan all along. Starve the people out into submission, and do not forget to take their guns as well. It's tough to enslave the population when they have guns to protect themselves from tyranny......
