Rcbs sucks! Warranty? Forget it!

RCBS Warranty - SOS/DD (Same Old "Stuff"/Different Day)

This topic has come up before (more than once, I believe, see thread https://canadiangunnutz.com/forum/s...ty-tell-us-your-story?p=13688133#post13688133 for example) and while I don't like to wait I am forced to since no bits-and-pieces are made generally available here as retail sale items.

Like a couple of other posters, I would gladly pay $8, or $9, or $10 for a replacement, say, decapping rod for my RCBS decap die (I don't care about getting replacement pins at no cost) rather than wait for 6 - 8 weeks for the Orrville shipping group to get around to sending out what is for them likely a 50 cent to produce bag of parts. I use the decap rod only as an example.

And to a previous poster who mentioned that RCBS was owned by OMARK Industries, their ownership is now listed as "Vista Outdoors" which may be a new iteration of OMARK, I'm not sure. I am also not sure if there is a correlation between previously good RCBS service (in 1980, I phoned regarding a .270 win reloading F/L sizing die leaving gouges on the brass, determined to be a machining issue - and got a new die within 5 days at the time) and the current level where I've waited literally months to receive a small cost part which I would have gladly shelled out for from my pocket so I could keep reloading.

My plan is to go to a different decapping system, and I may start looking at Redding or Dillon or even Hornady dies and other items if the current service level is indicative of the state of RCBS. I don't mind paying for quality, whether in products or in after-sales service. I bought a Hornady LnL progressive rather than an RCBS item about a year or two ago and these problems were definitely one of the reasons I did so. Maybe Hornady doesn't have any better C/S, but I've also found that their stuff doesn't break as often.

Exactly the same service here three months ago, liberty, exept the customer service rep I talked to on the phone was a lady. First, she emailed a parts diagram for a used seater I got at a second hand store up here. Turns out there were five missing pieces. Parts and shipping to Whitehorse arrived free of charge in about six weeks.

Lonesome Donkey, it would be good for you to just relax for a few weeks, ..... go bear hunting or something. RCBS is still the same great customer-serving company they have been for the past 50+ years I have been using their products.

Ted

Same here Ted at least 50 years also. Cheers

I have had my Hornady progressive for over 25 years, when I need a part I call them, and they ship it right away. Even shipped me extras in the past.

recently they offered me a NEW press for shipping costs and $150 as theg are running out of some partsof my press.

you need to talk to the right department for sure.

Any time I've dealt with RCBS's warranty dep. the service has been excellent. On April 5th/17 I called about a bent de-priming stem in a sizing die. It arrived today along with a package of de-priming pins. Not Bad considering it needs to go through customs. Over the years RCBS service has been excellent you just have to be patient and the parts arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.

Just a note I have a Dillon 550 and 650 and wait about the same amount of time for warranty parts from them.

6 weeks is good customer service? You gotta be kidding!!!!! Given that shipping anywhere in north america takes about a week max, it means they waited 5 weeks before shipping. That's not customer service, that's a joke. Even on ebay 6 weeks S&H time would deserve a negative feedback. I usually get my stuff in less than 6 weeks when I order from China.

I will gladly pay the 9$ S&H fee that Lee charges to avoid 5 extra weeks of delay.

I own/run a ski/bike/outdoor sports shop located in Fernie, BC. It is the black hole of shipping even though it's 3.5 hours from Calgary and 6ish from Vancouver. Sorry but a week from anywhere in NA is false. Our US suppliers can take 5 days to 5 weeks (usually the latter). From Quebec where most of the ski companies are shipping from? 1-3 weeks.

And to the OP, RCBS has always been painless to deal with for me. Fast shipping and no charge for stuff that I wanted to pay for (a tumbler that had probably cleaned in excess of 300,000 cases, burned out motor for example).

You do know why there is an extra charge to mail things across the Medicine Line, don't you?

It's for storage!

Of course, you realize where the Yukon is right? First a package travels from California to Canada Customs in Vancouver, then................... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, eventually cleared by Customs, then through the mail by truck to Whitehorse, then delivered.

Regular letter mail often takes two weeks from within Canada to get here. Its one of the blessings of living in the North! https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...-s-tough-living-in-the-North!?highlight=North

ever try to deal with Hornady CS or techs?

last time i asked RCBS to get some part for the hand primer the parts were shipped but it took 2 months to get them shipped here.

I have dealt with Hornady many times and they have sent me warrantied parts for stuff I have broke. They are fantastic to deal with.

Ive always had excellent service from RCBS. No issues at all even when it was my error. One reason they are my go to. Sorry your had issues with your press. what are the details on your press?? if they could answer your question right away. It must be really weird, or you really messed things up.

Is RCBS a member of this forum?? I recently called them about some replacement parts- some were warranty and some were replacements for worn out or broken parts. They said they would be sending them out- all free of charge. There has been a lot of discussion here about how slow they are in getting parts out, especially to us Canadians. Lo and behold when my parts showed up this past Friday. RCBS sent them Air Mail!! Never got warranty/replacement parts so fast from them before. Maybe they are listening to us here, lol. Very satisfied customer at any rate.

add me to the list of happy RCBS users. I LOST a part to my hand primer, called them up and asked if they would sell me the parts I lost, they refused, and insisted on mailing them to me free of charge. I want to say it took 4-6 weeks to receive the parts, but it I had more then enough ammo to tide me over for the duration of the wait.

I called RCBS service for a problem with hand primer rod length. No questions asked was mailed a new set free of charge. Can't think of better service. RCBS is an excellent company with excellent products.

...But forsters are sooooo very very nice. :)

Today i Just received my rock chucker replacement primer arm and catch tray that I told them I broke myself during my move...free of charge

I guess I am ok with their customer service

Just received a whack of parts required to rebuild a well used and abused LAM-II that I picked up at a flea market. Literally half the lube/sizer's parts were missing. It took 3.5 weeks from date of my email to RCBS until I had the parts in hand here in Outport Newfoundland. The parcel would've arrived much earlier, except for some Nimrod at CBSA left it sitting on their desk for more than a week.

I've lost count of the number of abused RCBS presses, dies and tools I've picked up second hand and rebuilt with completely free parts from RCBS. I think the "problem" some are having is a function of their generation and the unrealistic expectation of immediate satisfaction they've grown to believe is their due. A week for a regular parcel to go from the USA, be processed by Canada Customs and be delivered by Canada Post here in Canada? Good grief! The last parcel I shipped to BC from NL took 14 days via Expedited Mail. Speaking as a Gen-Xer, patience is a virtue.

As for the guy complaining about RCBS electronics warranty, they expressly come with a limited warranty and are specifically not covered by the no-questions-asked lifetime warranty that their more robust products carry. That’s clearly spelled out in the accompanying literature shipped with the electronics and on their website.
