Ok now back to the topic at hand.
A lot of people here seem to be into improved cartridges. Is it a big job to take a rifle, say for example a 30-06 bolt action and make it improved ? What has to be done. Actually thinking about it, and given I know ####, I would assume it is not a vilable way of going about it. Very Expensive....

You can go either way Jacky. But you start with normal 30-06 brass either way. - dan
So it sounds relatively easy to get into a rifle that shoots an improved cartirdge. So now I have to ask would a 8mm (8X57) improved perform close to the 8mm remington mag. I am not sure it would equal since the 8mm mag is based on the 300 H&H case but it might come close... :?:

jacky, I don't think you'd match an 8 Mag with 8X57 IMP, usually you can get the velocity of the next size case. (ie. 30/06 AI would come close to .308 Norma Mag)
