Remington Model 700 Sticky

Here's a couple of mine.
Top is a BDL heavy barrel 22-250.
My most accurate varmint rifle.
Below is a BDL in 7mm RM.
I've also got a 200th Anniversary model 700 in 7mm RM - Fancy wood and engraving if anyone is interested in seeing pics.

NAA.
That model came out in .308 in the early 70's. Al Mirdoch a Calgary benchrest shooter bought the first one that came in to Barotto Sports. I glassed bedded it, worked the trigger and recrowned it. In a registered shoot at Namaka Benchrest Club east of Calgary Al shot a 5 shot group at 100 yards (using a 6 power scope) that measured close to 1/16 of an inch center to center. It was just one hole. The only way you knew it was five shots is because a moving backer was behind the target.

I have seen many of these factory rifles in .243 and .308 shoot factory ammo in the .300's at 100 yards. The best factory rifle out there for accuracy.

I bought a 700 BDL in Edmonton in 1991 Its pretty much my go to big game rifle, crazy accurate and a perfect 3lb trigger.

Man I didn’t know Billy Bob Thornton hunted . LOL !

I’ve got 2 - the laminate is an older 700 with a custom 338-06 barrel. The chambering stamped on the barrel is 338 rcbs improved, can’t find any documentation for that round, I fireform 30-06 brass and neck size only with 338WM dies. Sends 200gr at 2950fps.

The 2nd is a bdl in 17Rem. I was using it quite a bit and put the sticky tape on to protect the wood cuz it’s pristine. Excellent for sniping ravens, as long as its dead-calmIMG_2758.jpegIMG_2759.jpeg

RCBS improved was a different shoulder angle and neck length than an Ackley Improved. I don't actually remember the angle anymore, but I'm sure you could Google it easy enough. Back in the day there were a lot of variations, but RCBS, AI and Gibbs were the ones i saw most often. - dan

My Dad had a 1966 Model 700 270 that I grew up shooting. Sadly, after my Dad passed we couldn't find it. I have my eyes on a similar one for sale now so hopefully I'll have photos to post here someday soon. It's great to see this thread. Thanks!

I was 16 years old when this Remington 700 BDL in 7MM Remington magnum was manufactured in September of 1977.

I picked it up last year at the local gun shop here in Cranbrook.
An "old timer" sold it to them, I was told.

It's in near mint original condition. I doubt if it was fired more than a few times.

It came with a period correct Scopecheif.
I put the VXIII on it.

I'll be working up a load for it this year using a 160 grain Partition, and maybe some H4831.

Hopefully it will bring home a couple of deer this fall.
