RF224 11.7” Review?

Stingers are not a solution.
Just a Gun shop tactic to try and make it work for you.
No way am I spending 20 bucks a box for ammo to make a 22lr spray gun function
i feel the same way i buy a .22 so i can have something fun and cheap to shoot not so i have to pay a premium for ammo

Dang ^ - 3/4000 rounds. Reminder to self: Do not buy used guns off Fred lol ;)
Guess in a way I'm jealous...I barely have 200 thru mine!
Definitely stay away from my adler lol, everything else doesnt get abused quite like this ones been, i just wanted this thing working so bad.
The recommendation of stingers to "fix" semi autos is a stupid one. Its not unreasonable to expect a cheap range toy, to shoot cheap range ammo. Also who thinks its a good idea to brute force something into "working" instead of trying to get it to work properly 🤷‍♂️
I really hope i get my wore out gun back instead of a new one as i dont want to start over trouble shooting a new one.
I tried asking to just have a bolt sent to me, they said no.

going back to opening up the chamber about how long did you work on it for i don’t want to over do it was it still pretty snug with an unfired round?

Not long, think of it more as deburring rather then opening up the chamber (you can always go back and sand more, putting it back after going too far is where you'll get in trouble) yes a round is still snug, but can actually pull a fired case out, take your time if you decide to try.

OK, I did a bit to start. I do not have a fired shell from it so I would not have a way to test fitment. I’m going to the range on the weekend. Hopefully it runs better. If not, I will just remove some more and hoping to get that extractor kit as well. Seems like the combination of those two helped you quite a bit.

I bought the Adler RF-22 last week and fired it yesterday. Bear in mind that my opinion so far is based on very limited use but so far I am not impressed. The very first round jammed when I tried to chamber it. After that the 10 rounds (Mini-Mags) did shoot reliably and seemed to be pretty accurate even though I was shooting unsupported. The first round in the next mag also semi-jammed but again the 10 Mini-Mags functioned without a hitch. I then tried shooting some Federal bulk pack from a Butler Creek pinned 25 round mag but could not get any round to chamber although I'm laying the blame for that on the mag, not the gun as the rounds didn't seem to come up high enough for the bolt to strip them from the mag.

However, when I tried to manually cycle some rounds through the gun from the original mags I noticed that the chambered rounds would extract about half way out of the chamber and then drop off the extractor on to the top of the mag causing a jam. I took the gun home, removed the bolt and inserted a round into the cutout on the bolt face . The extractor seems to exert enough tension to hold the rim but the problem is that th3e bolt face cutout is too big and allows the case head to move away from under the extractor claw which would explain why the rounds fall off the extractor once most of the round clears the chamber. The originally fired Mini-Mag rounds ejected fine but that obviously was from gas pressure and not the extractor pulling the cases out.

So now I have to contact the dealer I bought it from to see how or if they are going to handle this. If they jerk me around I'll be doing a follow up post.

Overall the gun seems solid and accuracy was decent so I had high hopes for the Adler. Others seem to have had better luck so maybe I just got a lemon. Time will tell but at this stage I can't recommend it.
Well, finally an update. I mailed the gun to the warranty depot (SFRC) around the end of October with a complete explanation of my issues. 2 1/2 months later I got it back with an explanation that the gunsmith "...found some machining debris impeding the extractor, did a cleaning and a successful 20 rd test firing."

Unfortunately the exact same problem remained. The bolt would pull the round about 1/3 of the way out of the chamber and then it would drop off the extractor. As you can guess I was pretty unhappy as it cost me $40 to mail back a brand new gun and I was looking at having to ship it back again and I made that point very clear. I will give them credit as they sent me a return label authorization so I didn't have to pay shipping again.

They also promised to prioritize the repair so back it went again with a full explanation of the problem. Anyway, long story short I received it back again this week so 2 1/2 weeks to get it fixed which I thought was very reasonable. The accompanying explanation was "The gunsmith replaced the entire bolt assembly, checked head spacing, did a function test with snap caps and live ammo to ensure manual extraction and a repeat live testing."

I first tested round extraction with snap caps and as had been indicated they extracted fine so today I took it to the range and put about 70 rounds through it without a hitch. No FTFs or FTEs with either empties or loaded rounds.

I have mixed feelings. It looks good and feels pretty solid and the compact size is nice but after all the hassle I am concerned about longevity. It's another example of a potentially solid product screwed up by lousy quality control. Maybe a few thousand rounds down the road I'll be able to recommend it but for the moment the jury's still out. I will say the warranty service was pretty decent although I wish the gunsmith had read my original problem description more closely as the problem could have been solved in one trip instead of two but at least they did fix it to my satisfaction.

I noticed on SFRC's website, they sell various 'small' parts for the TM22, like extractors & parts etc. .. Hmmmm.
I guess we should 'anticipate' & stock up on parts for this. Anyone know if they are the same internals I.E extractors etc. Other than different mags, they seem/look the same.

We will have Adler parts on the website in the near future. We're just making parts listings one brand at a time as we change our parts database over.

Stingers, we don't recommend people shoot stingers in these. Most companies don't recommend them for their guns.

after doing what Fred suggested and slightly boring out the chamber, also running slightly nicer rounds i believe they were cci target 1200 FPS around that apologies. I already threw out the box and completely forget but gun runners fall asleep now with 597 mag and the included, Ruger replica mags very happy with it now still going to install the new extractor, even though that is no longer a problem

Dang, maybe mine actually was a lemon.
Happy to hear yours is working better, my "go to" ammo is also 1200fps (federal automatch)

Feel for ya man. My experience has been totally different then yours. Reliably wise it is better then my TM22 flash.
The TM 22 has it for the ease of mag changes, 25 round magazines and a way better trigger. But the adler eats everything and I havent found anything yet to make to derya not jam at least once every mag.

I got mine back today, which for starters is an incredible turnaround, from BC to Ontario, repaired and back, great job.
(Roughly 2 weeks)
For the repair i think they covered all the bases, my charging handle was also loose on the action rod, but something i figured was normal for how it works, not only did they replace the bolt, they replaced the main spring, guide and charging handle, this things not sloppy at all anymore, before slapping my volquartsen extractor back in i lightly dropped the bolt to see if the factory extractor held the bolt out of battery (it did on my old one) and it didnt, so i didn't do anything i took it straight to the range as-is, and shot 400 rounds or so (yes im getting right into beating the snot out of it again) and had about 8 malfunctions, this is great considering how bad it was out of the box when new, i don't own any rotary mags anymore, so all my shooting is from 597 promags.
They properly peened the buffer pin as they definitely caught that was getting loose.
When i got home i did take it down and wipe off excessive oil and i did reinstall my volquartsen extractor. Hoping to get the reliability up a little more, but it definitely came back usable.

Shot another 400 rounds today, i feel like i would still recomend the volquartzen extractor kit, still had a handful of stovepipes/missfeeds still but a good time was had. I gotta say im greatful i got one before the price went up, cause that new tm22 pro or whatever is only a few dollars more.
Personally I'd still lean towards the adler cause it looks better with the 597 mags rather then deryas silly curved mags (yep that's the deal breaker for me, but if you dont mind the look, get the derya)

I just picked one of these RF's up and after tearing it down and lubing it up, pretty sure I hate it already lol. Just the build quality is abysmal, the softest aluminum and polymer imaginable, the paint finish was done in a kindergarten class I assume.
I'm familiar with 10/22's so I know where problems come from, made sure to to clean and lube the problem areas.
The plastic sights are going right in the trash lol.
I got it looking cool, if it impresses me shooting it, I may change my mind, but it looks like junk out of the box.
It does cycle dummy rounds fine with every mag I've tried so far, so that's promising.

Grabbed 2 of those promag 22 rounders, I've never seen such a pile of #### in my life...lol.
How can they even sell this junk without being embarrassed...wheh.
Binds right up at the transition from straight to slight curve.
Tried the oil, and loading, unloading a bunch, no difference.
If they were made to be disassembled we could get in there with some sand paper or something and smooth it out.
May just cut the bottom off, clean it up, then melt it back together.

Thanks for the feedback fred!
What ammo are you running and how are the group sizes?

I just mag dump this thing typically standing, never tried supported or off bags, usually transition from a near to far target 10 and 25 yards.
I really dont think anyones buyin one of these to shoot groups.
Federal automatch

As for the promag comments, mine are definitely not that bad, but probably a source of the remaining issues i do have

Thanks for the extra insight and context.

Group size doesn't need to be done with a micrometer and scored in a system to be a useful metric.
Even minute of pop can at 50 yards is useful info.... :)

Probably not much point running match ammo through it and competing in the .22lr CGN challenge......but I'm always curious what any .22lr will do with Mini Mags and Standard CCI ammo.

Just reporting- & surprised, I just put through/ran 50 of Remington Viper Hyper Velocity .. Truncated Cone. I thought that these would have issue, as per the Cone thing- Nope! I used Butler Creek 10/25's & everyone went/cycled without a hitch. TBH, I am bit shocked lol
So, basically for me, with CCI Mini Magz & now these, with either 10/22 or Butler Creek mags, little to no issue. I'm now Over 500rnds. Ya, not allot as per..like some-FRED! ;) & As for un-PRO-Mag = gahhh. Don't bother.
