RF224 11.7” Review?

I ordered an SBI extractor kit from a Canadian dealer, will report back once it arrives.
I took my adler apart, i frustratingly used red thread locker to hold the buffer pin in and had to take a crack-torch-lighter to it to get it out, i lapped the top of the reciever while cleaning it as its pretty chunky from overspray and whatnot and the bolt does ride along the top, i likely won't be reassembling and trying it before the new extractor comes in, as i got a feeling that buffer pins gunna need to be glued in again lol.
My friend who's waiting on his volquartzen kit tried the SBI extractor and it wasnt 100% reliable. It seemed to not grab the casings as deep. We were playing around with them today and i put my extractor in his bolt and it ran 100% for 200 rounds. Hopefully you have better luck. Maybe the SBI needs some fitting?

What do you mean oil it from the bottom? You mean put oil in the little hole in the bottom of the mag? after it's loaded? I have problems with those mags too! i guess we all do.

Will Ruger brand 10/22 banana mags (pinned to 10) fit in this gun? I haven't tried.
Correct, oil from bottom while loaded. It helped with one my mags with the 7-8 round bump.

Yes, my bx-25 Ruger works fine. It’s a little loose like the bx-1s but they work.

Send a pic of the pin coming loose to North Sylvia, they should be able to send you a new pin. They have been good to me in the past.

I got my volquartsen extractor in today, magdump only accepted payment for the sbi one today, still happy that ones coming as I'll have a spare spring and plunger.
I recomend following 6ohmoney advice of trying to find the kit that comes with the spring and plunger as i did launch mine accross the kitchen, i was able to find them.
Will hopefully try it tomorrow after work, as we already know my buffer pin needs to be locktite in and that needs some cure time.

I put a volquartzen extractor, spring and plunger in from new and this thing doesn't miss a beat. Have about 500 rounds of aguila through it and has never had a FTE, 3 FTF total but that could be the ammo. A friend tried his stock and its a jam o matic so hes ordered the volquartzen upgrade as well.

Huge improvement, i put about 1000 rounds through it today, i tried 4 types of ammo, cci standard which it did cycle, federal automatch, federal blue box 36gr cphp, and herters 36gr cphp (probably winchester white box) and it did very well, first 7 mags were flawless, it seems to prefer 36gr cphp ammos vs the automatch which is a shame as i have a couple flats of automatch, and any feeding/extraction issues i am having i feel are mag related at this point, it probably has a couple mags it likes more then others as sometimes it runs like a sewing machine and sometimes it'll have a couple malfunctions in the same mag.

Great to hear!!! Do you end up swapping the plunger and spring as well? Id use the SBI plunger and spring you ordered with the volquartzen extractor if you havent. Yeah mine loves the aguila HP ammo. The adler mags are definitely hit and miss have ya tried the ruger ones?

Im using the factory spring and plunger as the sbi one wasn't here yet,
I'm actually only using remington 597 promags loaded with 20 rounds.

What's the general consensus on these? Worth the $$$ for what it is? Or better off building something on a 10/22 platform?
Reviews seem to be all over the place

I have many 10/22 builds, haven’t touched them in a while. The Adler just feels great in my hands and fun to shoot. 20rd mags work great now after break-in.

How many rounds is the break in, I'm 3000+ rounds in and still can't recomend one lol
I had it out again today and its good, but definitely not great,
The way the extractor works it'll hold the bolt open a hair from time to time on bolt bounce which will still drop the hammer but won't fire, just pushes the bolt into battery, which is why putting a stronger extractor spring in makes absolutely no sense to me, the buffer pins loose again, I'm at the point of just going to shoot it for what it is, but its definitely not reliable, mine isn't anyway, its been a fun adventure and i want to like the rifle, but I'm still recomending people buy something else.

I probably just need to stop shooting it for a while, getting it working has been a hyperfixation of its own, maybe a break is in order.

I wasn't going to install the sbi spring and plunger, but once i saw it and how much better it looked compared to the factory one build wise i did install it (buffer pin was falling out again anyway) i wouldn't say its a stronger spring, but a smoother one, it no longer holds slightly OOB on the extractor, even when i try to force it to.
I loaded up 10 mags (200 rounds) and had one stove pipe on last round of a mag. It was raining and that was all the ammo i brought with me, but its the best its functioned by far, cant wait to take it out again on a nicer day.

Has anyone got one that works perfectly out of the box? (Larger sample size then 15 rounds lol)

Another 500 rounds through it this morning, 6 stovepipes, hell of alot better then 6 malfunctions per mag, could be on account that i use cheap ammo, but the way i see it, its not unreasonable to expect a cheap range gun, to shoot cheap range ammo.

Mag of federal automatch, then federal blue box 36gr cphp

Cheers, I probably won't be reporting back much, but will definitely follow the thread, i'd like to see how others are faring with this rifle.

Great work with the new extractor Fred! I'll be doing same to mine.
